I haven't intentionally turned on the TV to watch a show for at least 4 years now.

Wow.

Cool

Internet killed the TV star..

I like watching TV here, I guess it's in the TV program... Not that here there are all good stuff, but some documentaries can be pretty interesting...

I just download the documentaries. I love watching them.

Shame in the UK you can go to prison for having a TV with no licence.
I hate paying for it.

I never watch tv as a regular. But I prefer switching the tv on to find a good movie, rather than downloading it. Smile

Maybe it's outdated since they must put you in prison if you own a 40"+ LCD. Very Happy

The government here in DK, just issued a "collective media license" which includes Radio, TV & Internet?! Our national TV station calls it; "expanding entertainment" but the real reason is simply a lack of viewers/license payers Sad

no no.. you cant go to prison for not having the licence.. you can go to jail if you do not pay the bill and respond to the warning you receive when they contact you. They have special scanners, basically they have them installed on 3rd party company vehicles such as delivery couriers like City Link vans, Royal Mail are also rumored to co-operate with them. They also have guys walking around the housing areas with scanners (or in unmarked vans) checking for TV signals in houses not registered to have a licence.

You do get royally fucked if caught however.. its not a small bill and it goes on your criminal record i believe.

i thought that all this scanner crap was only an urban myth that the tv-companies used to instill fear in the populace?
I havent seen any scanner cars EVER, nor have i ever heard of anyone being scanned and NEITHER do i ever have seen the specs of those mythical machines that should be able to find TVs in houses full of other electrical gadgets, especially with PC-CRTs being basically the same just without the tv-decoder-part... ...but i m from germany, and it may be different in big-brotherstan Very Happy

We don't have TV licensing fees here, but taxes do fund our public broadcaster ...

I've seen them quite often, well not nowadays but during the 80s. The Deutsche Bundespost had these yellow vans with big antennas on the roof driving around residential areas. They were looking for illegal radio stations and of course for people who refused to pay their GEZ fees.

Well basically its the good old, mankind-facing-extinction-send-an-away-team, the sun is dying and a team is dispatched but they never return, in a final effort earth sends a 2nd ship (which is where our characters are) I know it sounds dull but unlike the hollywood flicks this is a tale of philosophy, religion in the genres of Horror and Sci-Fi. And trust me its beautiful in every aspect.

We have to pay for TV and radio, but they have to prove that you own a TV and a radio, and if you don't have the antenna out, they aren't allowed to come inside your house unless you let them in (or they come with police, which is unlikely). I don't think we have scanners, at least I haven't seen them here... But the subscription is very cheap, but if you get caught not paying, the fine is pretty hefty...
