ooohh so thats how it works... Very Happy
press i to start up
then W to unset parking brakes
1-9 (0) to set engine power

make sure you dont have engine power for more than 99% when cruising attleas or else you will burn out your engine, seriously burn it out hehe
make sure you cool it down with cowl flaps when oil temp gets a bit high but it may slow you plane down

if you once overpower your engine and it starts to act weird you will never be able to get it to work as it did when it was fresh and "new"

lol, alright, that didn't help me at all... I'm stuck on the aircraft carrier, full power, engine spinnin', just locked there.

Pressed all the buttons that said anything about brakes, nothin' let me start moving.

And I also started one practice mission where I was already in the air, but my plane insists on constantly climbing, what's up with that?

Make sure you have a key mapped to chocks within your control options, once done try that key. Laughing

Its your flaps that make you climb when flying, switch them to combat, but you shouldnt really need to mess with them, and it shouldnt be hard for you to control even with the natural climb.

Looks the same to me on my 9800 pro, turn it to openGL and turn landscape to perfect, water now has reflections, as for the rest of the graphics they look just like IL2 always did, its a 3 year old engine...

The water had similar water reflections and waves in FB on perfect landscape detail, but they improved it in PF. I think i read somewhere that's because it's now using PS2.0. Another great improvement in grfx is that you can see the ships from much greater distances, it makes things so much easier Smile. The game looks really, really good on perfect on my ATI9500p.

about Nvidia and PF;
Friend of mine is runnung a gforce and he gets "black" water on perfect.
It was ok in FB+AEP. Anyone else?...

@ teh_suq
yes you can!

I tried to get the prefect option going on Opengl, But its locked most the time, so I hacked the config and well its works but runs 10fps on my 9800xt and looks very screwed up with pixel dust all over the screen (from game not gfx card)

guess they should fix that someday. perfect mode doesn't work in dx it seems. odd

Not every plane is equipped with the same stuff...for instance your not gonna find fire-extinquishers on fighter planes, only the multi-engined bombers will have those.

I've noticed a problem with the gear on a few of the new planes, all the old ones work fine and I dont have specifics, but I know at least one of the new carrier planes wont let you put the gear up. Fortunatly it could sustain very high rates of speed without breaking off, I got up to 400 and it was still hanging on, altough my plane was shaking all over the place. Try turning on autopilot and have it do those things for you, then take over control.

Dont know about parking brakes, works fine on all the planes I've tried, including the ones with broken gears.

i got same kind of problem with some japanese planes but only during campaigns , i simply cant eject from the plane,it add some realism lol . BANZAAAAIIIII !!!!!!

i dont have weel brakes on those planes too Sad

also the first campaign from the japanese fighters campaigns (new guinea), is a bit bugged, i cant hear/see teammates radio msg or give them orders, the enemy frequency works well, 1 mission on 2 the half of the enemy forces crashes at take off, but it only happend in that campaign

try to put 250kg bombs on ur plane with unlimited ammo and go on ur target with autopilot "ON" , then watch the AI rolling on his self and spamming 250k bombs upside down , kinda funny , ill call it the "DBZ" bombing attack :/

there is one thing i dont like, its the way they generating the smoke , its realy ugly sometimes, particulary at the end of the smoke trail when u see those crosses in it, that smoke effect look way to old

beside this, its a very decent game/sim and the AI fly pretty well (bitches)

All the damn buttons DO work. If they dont work you are using them at a wrong time and/or in a wrong plane. Some planes cant hide gear, in some planes you need to raise the gear manually. I dont know about the eject thing, try opening the canopy first, maybe, doono.

Some questions

1. How do you determine what your enemy targets are for a mission while in the mission?

2. How do you cycle through different weapons?

3. How do you determine the distance b/w your current position and an enemy target?

4. How do you cycle through different enemy targets?

1. While in the mission i dont think you can so always read the briefing before the mission. It's especially important if the server has icons/map icons turned off (for greater realism). Otherwise you can check your map (default M) for your/enemy location/flight path.

2. You don't. Each weapon needs to be assinged to a different button. (except 1st and 2nd can be linked)

3. Without the icons it takes time and practice. There are advanced techiniques that will alow you to 'tell' the distance to target using your crosshair for example. But they are plane and target specific.

4. You dont. There is no 'lock-on' (not in Il-2 anywaiz Smile ). If the server alows it you can use padlock, which at close distances will automaticly change your view so you can see the enemy/friendly all the time. You can also view most if not all of the units currently instage via external cameras. Shift+F2 to cycle through the friendly units and Ctrl+F2 for enemy. Just check the button configurations to make sure im not wrong.

I dont know if these will help at all, but keep at it. And visit the official Il-2 board for more help. [ http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=cfrm&s=400102&f=25910613 ]

I take it you cant reconfigure so the mouse is used for flying?
I hate it when they do that in games, we dont all have joysticks (me since I dont play simlators) and gamepads dont exactly give you precision movement.
The mouse works well in games such as BFV so why not utilise it here. I could be talking a pile of crap if you can use it afterall.

LMAO !

You must be kidding right? It would be a suicide to try to fly this sim with anything less than joystick with some kinda rudder. If you dont fly "simulator" games, then DONT, or get a stick if you do, its that simple...
With mouse/gamepad?...ahhahahhahahhahha! Funny shit indeed ...
