Is it recommended to OC my e6550 stock setup? I play latest games, bioshock, half life, etc. Worth bumping up to 2.33mhz.. I believe highest I should go with stock is 2.8.
Also, how do I go about doing it? Using an Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard. Thanks!
Current temps under load (bioshock running in background for past hour)
Hardware sensors monitor 4.3
cpu1core -42
cpu0core- 37
hd temps: 36,36,40
case 35
Reading up on chip - people are saying works well 2.80GHz(400x7) stock voltage I dont know. I think its not worth it with stock. Prob keeping as is as temps are great and bioshock plays flawless at 1680x1050 res all high.
I got an E6550, stock cooler, and all I did was set FSB from 333 to 400 mhz (2.8ghz)
No change in voltage and it's been running fine for 2 months with good temps.
But yeah, as long as you're happy with the current performance there's no reason to overclock.
Plus your GPU isn't exactly great so chances are every new game is gpu limited anyway, so you probably wouldn't get much from overclocking at this point.
Just noticed speed increases when im extracting huge 4gb files, encoding movie files. etc. so this overclocking is def. recommended regardless of vid card..thanks
