WOW! You are in one of the best counties for it. Check this out:
http://www.dh.umu.se/
or Konstfack in Stockholm (that's where I started) they also have a good Product Design course.

I went to an International school in Switzerland after Konstfack called Art Center (E) (yes expensive, but we Swedes have pretty good student loans and what have you. I also had 2 grants from the Wallenberg Foundation. That school has closed but the mother school is still up and running in Pasadena LA. One of the most renowned Design Schools in the world. There is also the RCA in London and in Germany there is Pforzheim.

RCA, London:

CCS, Detroit:

If you have a technical background you are like cut out for it really...almost, you need some sort of artistic skill plus innovative ideas of course. But those links will take you a bit further if you are looking to get prospects etc.

Its a great job, but like all jobs have some downsides. Stress, always performing your best (our your design will never make it), politics (some studios more then others) our team is small and pretty friendly though Wink

Some links to conceptual work form really creative guys, some from Art Center and some from Pfortzehim etc Wink

Well, my current studies don't involve any design or artistic elements at all. I'm studying civil engineering and computer technology at Chalmers. But i'm guessing you need engineers on your team too, so there's probably room for people like me in that industry. Man, so many choices. It's really overwhelming Sad

Of course we have engineers. In our studio which is a small team of about 40 ppl in total (that's with admin, secretaries and other staff) there is two studio engineers specializing in advanced/concept design.

But if you are at Chalmers...anything is possible Wink

Actually one guy I know from Art Center used to engineer wheel axles for Saab Scania. He quit that and took the trasportation design course at Art Center, and after that he became Design Chief for Scania...not sure if he still is, as this is like 13 years ago

Edit: Well there is alwasy Marketing, and thats a huge part of the Car industry, we sort a follow them hand in hand...sometimes we have to OBEY!...actually most of the time

That's good to hear. But my current studies are hard as fuck, and i'm thinking about switching to business and economics at GU instead. How well do economists/accountants/business administrators do in your industry? I really think the car industry would be a fun place to work, that's why i'm asking. Either that, or the gaming industry.

Gaming industry does sound like a cool idea, but like all that stuff, you are hot and your not
Meaning that you have to stick out to make a good career. But anyway, I am sure you will have a darn good base to go where ever you want after those studies. That's sort of as elite as you can go in Sweden...except for Tekniska HS of course Wink

I know Smile

That's why i busted my balls by studying every single math course they had, plus 2 physics courses, and tons of programming and other computer related subjects, so i could get into Chalmers. But judging by how hard it is know, and the extreme pace they make you work, i'm seriously considering swithing to business and economics. All this chalmers stuff seems like more trouble than it's worth, when you consider that an economist can make as much, or even more than an engineer. Plus, there are more hot bitches in business and economics programmes. In my class of 100, there are only two girls (!!!), and one of them is ugly as fuck, and the other is only slightly fuckable... HAHA! Well all is not gold that glitters. I have a friend here in Germany, he was a stockbroker for many years, he is now retired (40 or so) he works from home ONE! day a week from hes PC and brings in about 6000 euro or so per week on stock trading. He does not really need the money, but its in hes blood he says...if hes happy?...I think that's relative. he says that all that money has not really made him happier, but it has made life...more comfortable, lets put it like that. The guy used to be a pro and now he works 4 days a month, gets around 24.000-26.000 Euro a month.

Well money doesn't mean that much to me. If i made as much as your friend i'd probably only work long enough to make 3-4k, and work less instead of making more money. What means the most to me is having the freedom to only work when i want to/need to, while still making decent money and enjoying what i do. But what he's doing sound really sweet. Working when you feel like it and still making enough money to be independent sounds like my dream job.
