I just received my shipped PNY 8800 ULTRA but sadly it was'nt the Overclocked one.
My concern is regarding wether or not i can transform it or to make it reach the specs of the 25 bucks expensier overclocked monster one. How can i do it and if its easy please explain.
is it worth overclocking it or is to demanding and shall not mess with it? apreciate help Smile

Unless you need an extra few % points in framerate don't bother. I mean it's already and ULTRA - THE FASTEST GRAPHICS CARD ON THE PLANET.

Don't bother, Although the card does benefit pretty well from a good OC, especially the core. Rivatuner allows you to OC the shader domain individually now too.

So yeah, don't bother. Laughing

Thats a good call kaMel!, maybe im just too jumpy on that Crysis and Gears of war aproaching near. Spykez makes a point too!. In 3 to 4 months 8 series will be obsolete comparing them to the tough power of the 9 series. damn we are talking about ddr4 memory and over a gig in memory.
Yes, the 800ultra is the fastest but il bet in 3 to 4 months game devs will be working on games that demand ddr4 and over a gigbyte, thats the speed of technology and it aint bad. For example, you buy a Core 2 Quad in this season and the monster Penryn its out, there is a span of stable price in the market that lasts for 10 months aprox before falling, witch quite SUCKS!. but yeah thats the price one has to pay to play these bad ass games.
Bye bye to my x1900xtx, welcome 8800 Ultra! u have 5 to 6 months to live, so go eat Crysis,COD4,GOW,BIA3HH. When Alan Wake arrives...........9 Series turn.

If your really adamant about OC'ing the thing just for kicks, it's a extremely painless process. Either grab Ntune or Rivatuner and locate their respective OC'ing section and have a blast pulling the bars to the right. Laughing

Your only thinking obsolete in terms of whats new out, just cause something new is out doesn't make your card obsolete. I mean the 8 series GTS/GTX are gunna be good for the next year mabye two running games smooth, crysis is going to be as good as it looks for a wile and that ultra will be good for a long time, ya the 9 series is going to dominate but cmon, no way it'll be obsolete for some time. I mean hell, my 7900 GS is still running a good deal of games on almost max detail without any jumps depending how well optimized it was.

KaMel thankx for OC'ing tutorial!, about not beeing obsolete i totally agree, even my previous x1900xtx could last 8 more months, im just itchy with all these advancements at a pace Alien technology must envy! i dont know!, many factors may push you to think "Hey its Obsolete now!!" specially if u are a hardcore gamer. too much toys and games nowadays.
