Can someone help me with something. CS Source was working perfectly for about 2 days now and it just fucked up on me all of a sudden like 20 mins ago. When I try to connect(when I double click the Hl2.exe) it says "Unable to start Steam Engine: *SteamStartEngine(0x12fc3c) failed with error 200: Failed to connect to any generalDirectoryServer, Winsock Error 10061 "Connection Refused". Does this mean that I am banned and if so is there anyway to bypass this??

Ok I am running Luzifer version. I have my SteamApp set to this:
SteamAppId=92
#SteamAppVersionId=0
SteamInstallPath="C:\Program Files\Valve\Counter-Strike Source\"
# [as is clearified later on, this should be your email address:]
SteamAppUser=myusername
SteamUserPassphrase="mypass"
It's giving me some weird error about "Failed to create directory d:\counter-strike-source, Win32 Error 21 "The device is not ready."
WTF is this garbage? I got into the game when I tried starting steam and directing the SteamInstallPath to C:\Steam, but I couldn't join any games and my latency was like 1500 to all servers. This looks like the right way to do it but it's still giving me this error.
Any help?

ok here's a stupid question (to some of you) but Im a total newbie coming to Counter Strike for the first time with this Source release.. my question is this : is there a free-for-all mode like in medal of honour? or is it all team based CT vs T kinda thing? shit is confusing .. teams look identical to me, only way you can tell is if you point at the guy before you shoot and see if he is "enemy" or "friend" by that time im already dead !!!

its team based of course. and u must be pretty blind if you cant notice the dif between blue/white camouflage and a seal type uniform. the way guns are held are a big giveaway too.

Tried re-installing, now says Failed to create directory c:\program files\valve\counter-strike source\, Win32 Error 183 "Cannot create a file when that file already exists"
What the hell is this shit man? I'm doing it exactly as all the guides say and it still won't work.

Play it for more then 10 minutes and you will quickly catch on.
I've got a bit of advice since your a newbie to CS, one bullet can kill, holding down the mouse button to empty a clip wont accomplish shit unless you get real lucky, fire slow and accuratly, after about 5 bullets leave the chamber you have no chance of hitting anything unless you slow down your rate of fire.
This doesnt apply if your in close range though, spray about 10 bullets and they will go down fast in that scenario, dont empty your entire clip because 9 times outa 10 they have backup.

i dunno man, its not THAT noticeable.. unless the guy is right up close to you. from far range its very hard to tell. definitely a HUGE flaw in the game for newbies to an otherwise great fun game which I'll continue to play.

you can play with bots but the bots write down your ip and send emails to valve telling them who you are

valve successfully shut down sites that hosted illegal maps for hl2 made with the leaked tools... valve shut down ogc sites... i mean even if it sounds far fetched that valve would go and sue people illegally playing their game it's still possible... and 2000 people? that sounds about right... Alot of people have purchased the packages and have the xt vouchers... and the number of people playing the game illegally is miniscule compared to those playing it legally...
