Its a sad day when some moron decides to make a topic ridiculing religious people yet provides no insight as to why he thinks this way......

I swear Nforce is becoming more and more like isonews everyday I even have second thoughts coming here nowadays...wish I didnt feel this way Sad

Fundamentalists are some of the most idiotic and bigoted people on the planet. Although in general most religious persons keep it to a personal level, and it's not really fair to generalise.

Just like the popular misconception that every other muslim is a fanatic, it's because you only hear about the bad ones. Who wants to read/hear about another moderate christian...

Not that i'm much older, but a 19 year old talking as if they know what the fear of inevitable death is like is rather pathetic.

I was religious until I was like 14-15. And of course its mostly fear of death that make people believe in god. Traditions and culture, bla bla... mostly fear of death. And you talk like you are older than you are sometimes. Can't see whats so pathetic or lame about saying that. Its the truth in my eyes Razz

That guy Jesus was religious - a muslim or sikh or something like that. and he was very clever.. its been said he could walk on custard and turn cheese into yogurt and McDonalds into edible food (although the latter boast i find too hard to believe to be even remotely credible)..

Ok, maybe 'pathetic' was the wrong word, but you can't have any idea what it's like to know that you're going to die, and that there is nothing you can do about it. I think it's unfair to say it makes someone weak because they find religion in their old age.

Even children/young adults with terminal illnesses are in a different state of mind to an older person nearing the end of their natural lives. These children usually harbour fantasies about how they're going to be the first person in history to survive the illness, or something miraculous is going to happen which saves them. It's not the same as the inevitability of old age. Yet these fantasies hold many similarities with religion.

So yeah, a healthy 19 year old talking as if they know something about death is both arrogant and ignorant at the same time. Maybe by the time you're 21 (my age) you'll be a little less judgemental.

Well I want to believe I know how it feels like. But its probably even worse. Just like people say you can't know how it feels to lose a child. But you get my ide. I know you like to argue... Razz I will probably think the same way about this when im 21.

I actually envy people who follow religion in some aspects.
They actually think that their lives have meaning/ continuation.

But you are not sure of that.
You know that you can't really know if there's an afterlife.
The 'classic' kind of religious people have no doubt that their life will continue.

I'm agnostic for example, I don't know if there's any god, I can't know if there's any god, therefore god shouldn't be relevant to my lifestyle.

Religion is a part of theology, and theology is learning of god; theology tries to explaine great dogmas and beliefes. They try to explain god through different perceptive, and god is an ideal to which all people strive, concious or not. Religion is a way to make people feel safe here on Earth, if you study peaces of modern philosophy you will learn more about religion. And it is not nice to judge someone for their religion, yes it effects person, but not all the people of some religion are fanatics, or crazy lunatics... person is defined by character...
