I know it's not really news, but couldn't find a thread about it. Possibly mentioned in one of the movie threads, but here it is anyway.

Lucas is gonna direct the first season, so at least that can't be a total failure. Can't wait.

yes and it was the weakest of the original trilogy... and its strengths were the visual effects and the brilliant cast that he managed to assemble, not due to his talents as a master story teller, director, or script writer.

So now he's a bad writer too? What exactly was he there for? I'm sure we would all know about star wars as a classic without Lucas...my ass.

Choosing the proper cast and forcing your visual effect guy to make the movie good IS part of directing my friend.
I agree last three parts were worst of the star wars, although I enjoyed the massive battles quite a bit. He was still doing good directing, what other movie you know that had FIVE(!) sequels and all of them were pretty damn good (come on, we have to agree ep 1-3 are still good movies). You can't keep it up for that long, and he managed to do it (although not fully) more than others did.

Are you drunk, high, or otherwise on an acid-trip? Laughing

Have you seen the making of episode 3? There you see what kind of directing Lucas actually does. He let other people do the work for him, then he just picks the scene he likes best outta 10 alternatives!

So what about his writing then, which he actually does himself? The connections between the old movies and the new ones are ridiculous to say the least.

So he picks a few good actors. But take a look at what happened to Mark Hamilton after Star Wars. And let's not mention Hayden Christensen, the worst actor on earth. Razz

saying that the person who created one of the best known, deep and successful fiction-universes in modern history is a bad writer is moronic beyond words.

the animated clone wars is already running on cartoon network for about 2-3 years.

I live for star wars and even though lucas is awesome for ORIGINALLY creating it, i agree lucas is a TWAT!!!! he butchered episode 3! all the characters and shit were designed before he even created a script it was ridiculous, and jar jar binks? wtf was he all about!!! i love star wars, like seriously i'm obsessed with it but shit, when he sells out just to make the $$$ then he becomes a moron imo. the TV series is yet another sellout. episodes 1-3 should have been written by lucas initially then it should have been passed onto someone else. and he wont let anyone make 7,8,9 until he's dead.....why? cos he knows that whoever does it will want to do the heir to the empire trilogy which would be amazing and would make kucas look even more of a joke!

As much as i hate to admit it lucas sucks ass big time!

the whole series is to make $$$. he sold out from the very beginning, im sick of ppl saying people sell out, of course you sell out, its money, you wanna be rich. if youre sitting on a gold mine you milk it for all you can, and if you dont youre a fool. who else is gonna front money for the home when youre old or in this case that ranch place. the quicker you lose this naive idealism the better, seriously.

i don't have any form if naive idealistic views on money trust me. but basically looking at the first 3 films Lucas cared about how they were presented. looking at the prequel trilogy he didn't really give a shit is what i am eluding to. sorry if that escaped your superior intellect Rolling Eyes

I'd be interested in this. Done correctly it will fill a void that exists... a lack of real science fiction television drama. Jesus - what happened to it? There's hardly any these days.

Yes i do actually, as i said i am an extremely avid fan and watched extensive documentarys on all 3, ok so ep 1 he did care about i actually retract from that one, but ep 2 he obviously didn't care about or he wouldn't have cast Hayden as anakin, cos lets face it in ep 2 he was SHIT! ep 3 he didn't care about at all, i watched a documentary that showed him basically walking around stamping pictures of what he liked and then saying ON CAMERA, oh right you've all done your jobs theres only 3 months till we start filming i better do a script!

He also doesn't care 1 iota about his fans or rather the fans of SW or he would have followed what the storyline tells and what people have believed for years before the recent trilogy came out, for a start off, that it was boba fett who killed mace windu in revenge and also he wouldn't have bowed down to sam jackson and let him have a purple lightsaber which goes against any other jedi and the crystal they use to construct a lightsaber. and palpatines face was supposed to be twisted over time through using the dark side not cos of the unbelievably bad acting scene where he killed mace. i wacthed episode 3 five times in a row on its release day and although it got better each time (cmon it IS SW) it was still shockingly done, left ALOT to be desired and left too many plot holes. WAY too many.

thats just to name a few of the reason why he didnt give a shit. the work was put in by other people NOT by lucas.

Better each time? I've seen all the new movies more than once, and they get more ridiculous each time I watch them. They are braindead eyecandy, nothing more. Acting is horrendous, even from some of the more experienced actors, because Lucas does not know how to work with actors. He just puts them in front of a greenscreen or in a cockpit and rolls camera.

I don't feel there are many plot holes, I think the entire plot is just fucked over. Particularly episode3 strikes me as moronic in terms of how stupid the Jedis really are.
