It's also not my fault the second time.
It sucks so much that you work so much on your hard earned ratio with a sucky upload speed and then they ban you for inviting someone who have cheated.
Can't remember which of my friends I've invited but one of them have been cheating.

Morale: Never invite anyone into a private torrents site. You'll lose your precious ratio.

Now I'll have to sign up for the third time lol Razz
Do they really think that they can keep banned people away with this IP banning+cookies banning policy? Razz
These kind of things only strengthen the urge to cheat on the ratio Razz

Don't see the problem with good private torrentsites (swedish ones) lots PW; lots of swedes with 100mbit full duplex. But yeah, a good ftp ring is better. Rapidshare also works. But don't forget all the scenegroups upload their releases at shareaza first.

X_Dror did you not learn the first time dude? people aint friends if they sully your good name for a start off. moral is dont invite people you dont trust completely, not dont invite dude Wink

as for what is more l33t than the other. i use everything depending on what i'm after. if your after an old single track then some crap like shareaza is fine, for anything else then its just shite. i haven't used torrents for ages. a buddy invited me to a private site this week, so far i have just been seeding to get my ratio on a decent start (dont wanna ruin anyones rep, including my own) so cant comment on how good or not it is.

Personally i reckon Topsite, FTP Ring or IRC is the way to go, best speeds no waits etc etc. although after my year break i dont currently have the former so its IRC all the way atm.

[EDIT] also cant comment on newsgroups cos i have never used them and to be PERFECTLY honest i haven't a clue how to cos i've never looked into it.

Wow, so much people using P2P/Hacked FTP/IRC on nforce...
Well, a good advice for all of you, forget trying to get a topsite access, get a newsgroup account, it's even better Smile.
It's the perfect solution for scene needs. Trust me.

It's not about skills, it's about security.
With Newsgroup or Topsite, you are virtually 100% secure.

That is the stupidest thing iv ever heard. Its just as secure at a good torrentsite (of course not public) Read comments etc.

And who the hell would want to waste their account because some shit they uploaded.
Just download scene releases and you will be just fine with torrents.

Someone (IRL, a real know it all kinda) was yapping to me how newgroups weren't safe. The FBI came in and the R.C.M.P (Canadian police) worked with them in canada.

I listened but everything I hear is that newgroups are safer than torrents or sharezza (sp? don't use) If they want to get you they will. They can track newgroups as well.

Also, I think you gotta think twice before inviting someone into a private group. Get to know them better next time X_dror Smile

Yes and no. Nobody is looking into newsgroups at the moment, because MPAA/RIAA are all in bed with a few of the providers. They are out to get the p2p networks because everyone can download from p2p without paying a penny and it takes up the most amount of traffic. Hence why people who share things to p2p are liable to get sued and put to jail.

Were there? Perhaps a couple that was never displayed in the media or elsewhere? In any case, they are by FAR not on the scale that p2p lawsuits are thrown at individuals and organizations.

it's only illegal to upload in Canada Wink

Quote:
The Copyright Board of Canada earlier that year had included downloading music in the list of "private copying" activities for which tariffs on blank media applied. (Private copying is the act of copying music for personal use from a noninfringing source, and is itself noninfringing.) That made it extremely unlikely that downloaders could be successfully prosecuted, leaving only the possibility of acting against uploaders, those supplying the works to others on the networks.

Unless you upload, you can't be tracked on newsgroup. And anyway, it's been more than 10 years that ng exist (and no raid based on ng also)

Shareaza, a win32 p2p app that can connect to the edonkey, gnutella and gnutella2 networks, can also do torrents but afair without the trackerless support (DHT).

Its pretty much a given that if your using torrents/p2p your presenting yourself as more of a risk heck dling anything nowadays your taking a risk but why take more of a risk when there are many other ways you can "obtain things"

People are lazy Smile
