Just got an x264 720p rip of Terminator 3 and have watched it on a normal PC monitor.. the quality improvement is considerable, however is not as stunning as a 720p porn film i downloaded.
Pussy in HD, all the way! Wink

look just face it. some people have lower standards than others. for some people 'vhs quality' is perfectly clear... these people will NEVER get what we see in high definition, so its pointless to argue with them. those people arent stupid... just dont get the fuss, because they arent as 'in to' media as the rest of us... theres nothing WRONG with that... i just sure as hell wouldnt wanna be that way Very Happy

Good post. Me, when I watch a movie, I want everything to be perfect. Perfect sound, perfect quality. I wouldn't mind downloading a 25 gb file, it wouldn't take me more than 2 hours anyway. Certainly worth it, considering that you often know a good while before when you want to watch the movie.

The problem with that is, most (including me) can't download that amount of data. So most would much prefer a H264 rip. I've not actually seen any of these yet.

Well I guess I could, But it would take too long. Considering I only have a 4MB Unlimited connection. If this HD-DVD thing takes off, I guess I could upgrade to 10MB (Max speed for cable in the UK) But I would rather just save bandwidth and download an H264 rip at about 8.5GB for example. (So you could fit it on a normal DVD9)

Lucky I'm not on a capped ISP (Like most here in the UK are) or I wouldn't even be able to download it at all!

Would take about 6 hours with 10mbit. Overnight download. I agree though, 720p recompress into H.264 is good enough for me. Someone is posting MI3 that way right now <3

Hopefully more places start to offer HD-DVD's for rent.
