miss that catchy bond song on that guitar Sad , and they fucked the bond time line big time /example his boss was a Man later it was a Woman , and the other parts where when there was cold war but in this movie the cold war its over/ , this movie is like there is a new guy with the same name that has new adventures ... nice actions but ITS NOT A BOND MOVIE / they only used the James Bond name so millions of fans will go to this movie /

2/10 becoz i am a bond movie fan , fuck its like the future will destroy all those great things not improve it , just like in games with SC double agent

9/10 if you aren`t

They filmed the novel of Ian Fleming's, this is his story, so you can't change much about this.
And, Dr. No didn't really had that nice guitar song in the beginning as well, everything was different as well, and, since this movie is before Dr. No, it's not so weird Wink

Rolling Eyes there where no fancy gadgets , no DVD players , there was a cold war , so they fucked the time line big time , and where is SMERSH

Well obviously they updated it to the present

I thought it was an excellent action and Bond movie. And I'm not the only one since it's at 95% at RottenTomatoes

I think Daniel Craig is a good actor, I enjoyed him in Layer Cake etc. But his bright blue shining eyes in this movie just irritated the fuck out of me. He just doesn't look like Bond.

He looks like some Dutch South African mercenary rather than Her Majesty's Spy.

As far as I'm concerned they might as well have had a Chinese Bond, or Jamaican, Philipino, Aborigine or Mexican Bond.

Whoever was in charge of casting should be shot.

Seen Dr.No?

In Dr.No Q wasn't there as well, this this is before Dr. No, but yes, I would like to have both in the movie as well. Maybe the new bond @ 2 May 2008 Smile

Well, he wasn't from netherlands, now was he? I wouldn't call 85 vs 95 reasonably young, that is old in any case. Natural cause or not, my point still goes Wink

New Bond is actually more in line with what a real spy would be like but Bond fans don't really want a real spy. They want gadgets, girls and all the cliches. Very Happy Where's the mutilated megalomaniac with a world-conquering scheme. Razz They want a Bond who beats the baddies while adjusting his tie and delivering one-liners.

The villain in this movie sucks. He got his ass kickd by two african guys. Begged for his life twice. Then took a bullet in the head. The only thing he did as a villain in this movie is ball-whipping. I think the african guy who did all the awesome runing and jumping, at the beginning , is more of a bad-ass than him.

Do you really think life is worth living after you are 85?
Anyway the avarage death rate is around 86-87 in NL. But of course there are some fuckers far above it..

Nah, i got respect for the elders. I just say you can't really say 85 is a young age. By nature we are made to be about 30-40 years old. Tecnology changed everything Surprised

This Bond movie is awesome, and i consider myself a fan of the old movies as well but i've never seen the gadgets as essential for a good Bond movie..

Actually the average age for NL is Life expectancy: 76 years (men), 81 years (women). 85 is pretty good.

Even more accurate: CBS stats Smile

I liked the movie even while it broke with the double- o-7 traditions. The action was somewhat more realistic as in older Bond movies.

I was a big fan.

1.) No more shitty lame ass "gadgets". A few things here and there that could either be done now or in the future (e.g. blood test over the net) but no unbelievable pointless shit that isn't needed (invisible cars; cars with missiles, machine guns, everything else, etc)

2.) Daniel Craig. This is more of an opinion, but I was a big fan. Only Brosnan movie I could tolerate was Goldeneye... Perhaps more because the latter movies were just complete shit, but still... I think Craig is more true to the book.

3.) Realism: Obviously some silly scenes where he should die or be shot, but on the whole, everything is a lot more realistic, including the overall plot... The villain may not have been some guy about to destroy the world, but financing terrorism is a bit more realistic than hijacking a nuke to blow up (insert big city here).

I'd give it an 8. Right in front of Goldeneye.

I totally agree, although it some long scenes did drag the movie down for me like the love scene and perhaps a little less poker. Also i did miss a car chase scene!

For all the things that people talk about missing, Q Gadgets Moneypenny, wrong time line etc. Well obviously you cant make this film like its still the cold war. And i dont think Moneypenny was in the first bond novel either. And as far as im concerned with the M being played by a lady i just think Judi Drench is doing an absolutely fantastic job so it doesn't bother me at all.

Personally i like the way the gadgets worked together with bond in the old movies, rather then in the new ones where i was more the gadgets that solved the cases. It really quick became about big explosions and cars that literally could do everything.

A Q missing well, im not sure Q was in the first book either:P. And as far as he isn't in Dr. No is quite a mistake as Dr. No is bond book nr. 6. where as Q is in Moonraker, which is bond movies nr. 2.

I really think Craig was excellent as bond, up there with Sean, Roger and Pierce which are the real bonds in my eyes.

And the movies did what it was supposed to do, tell the tale of how Bond got started. And you dont exactly get kick started with everything served for you. Which they captured quite nicely with all the "rookie" mistakes he does and how cheeky he is towards M in the beginning.
