100,000 units at launch was a bit poor.... Personally If I was lucky enough to get one I would have it on Ebay right away...

WOW.. The price seems good in Japan... £270 for the Full Package (but no doubt in the UK we will be charged twice that..). Plus You have to remember that the PS3 has a Blu Ray drive and Blu Ray Players alone cost £600+ which makes the PS3 quite a good buy if you were considering getting a Blu Ray Player!!!

100,000 units is a piss take. Knowing Sony at launch 30% of those will be faulty in three months.

Dont be stupid people. Of course the ps3 will sell awesome in Japan, now and later. Japan loves sony and the playstation brand. Same with Nintendo and their consoles.

A friend of mine who went to live in Japan about a year ago played a PS3 recently. Apparently there were 6 games launched with the console. SIX!?? He played ...
Mobile Suit Gundam: Target in Sight
Ridge Racer 7
Resistance: Fall of Man
Genji: Days of the Blade
From what he says it sounds very much overhyped. Resistance is crap and RR7 isnt much better than the 360 version. He also played a demo of Devil May Cry 4 and says it has great visuals but it was boring ... oh dear Sony.

...and FYI there is like 60% of all sold consoles still out there that noone uses because they try to sell it with profit.
Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

I thought this interview gave an excellent analysis of what will and could happen:
http://www.gametrailers.com/bonusround.php?ep=1&pt=1
One of the excellent points brought up is that for every game developed for both the PS3 and Xbox 360, it simply is not in the developers best interest to make the PS3 version look better. More cost, same return.
It also brings up the best point of all....
Buy the system with games that you are interested in!
Personally, I will be going with the Wii for my console satisfication, and the PC for my graphics lusting. I might pick up a PS3 in 2-3 years IF it comes down in price to under 300$, which in my mind is very, very unlikely.
All intelligence aside: I despise Sony, and would be delighted if they failed.

400k for the yanks is pathetic, they'll lose this chistmas to the wii and 360, simply because of the fact there's more units out there.
As for blueray, i couldn't give a toss, blueray isn't a selling point for me at all, and if i really cared about image quality and sound of my movies, i wouldn't choose a console over a dedicated player, ever.

Quote: | It's suddenly becoming very important what native resolution your HDTV runs at. Some sets run at 720p natively, others at 1080i or 1080p, and some older sets don't support 720p at all. That was never an issue with the 360; Microsoft's system could upscale the image to fit your 1080i set. On the PS3 however, if your television doesn't support 720p as a resolution, you're going to have problems with games like Resistance: Fall of Man that default to 720p. You see, the PS3 can't upscale the image. What does it do? The system actually downscales the picture into 480p. So if you have a television that only does 480p and 1080i, like many older sets, many PS3 games may as well be standard definition. |
I loled.
I hear 400,000 may be a gross estimate...
I'm guessing the system won't pull ahead of the race for a long time. But eventually... perhaps.

i think overall the xbox 360 will do better all they have left to do is get the metal gear series on board and they are set they already got grand theft auto which was one of the main selling points of the playstation 3 other then blu-ray which isn't much of a selling point since blu-ray has not even beat hd-dvd yet.
