ok, so Im buying a new graphics card, but I don't want to spend a fortune on it (definately not more than 200 €). Anyone got any suggestions? What should I think about before buying? Cheers

Well if you want it to be next generation then wait for vista and DX10. There will probably be some budget models out, when vista arrives and then you can enjoy the eye candy in Crysis complete Smile

i doubt with budget models u will enjoy crysis,
before it comes out if u realy need good vcard for 200e i suggest 7900GS

Budget models are bound to arrive when we reach the DX10 era. And if he want it cheap he has to get a budget model.

Eliz, the 7900GS is the one I've been locking at. Probably buy that or 7600GT

7900GS=200e 256bit 450MHz/1.32GHz 20 pipes
7600GT=150e 128bit 560MHz/1400MHz 12 pipes

So, what about processors then? AMD or Intel, never mind telling me how many GHz or whatever, just which one is best for gaming? Or perhaps there's not really a difference?

Intel if your going to get a newer chip (Core2 Duo).. AMD if your looking at older chips (AMD64..)..

Intel Core 2 Duo ;

E6300 (S775, 1,86GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 2MB) =209€

E6400 (S775, 2,13GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 2MB) =249€

E6600 (S775, 2,4GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 4MB) =329€

E6700 (S775, 2,67GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 4MB)= 565€

u can buy E6300 & oveclock it to E6400 with decent cooling no problem,will save u 50€ Wink

don't buy AMD,new intel is faster
