I got a question, why dont groups bundle the latest patch + crack for that patch when they release a game so late that the big main super-needed patch already has been out for a long time ?
I mean, why crack the game original, when the needed big patch is already out? Gotta wait like a few days more for a crack of that.
Even with games like this with 0 protection in some versions Wink

ANYWAYS, us with the legal version, Epsilon u wanna play? =D

Yes, that would qualify as an request. So, for your own safety...don't! Twisted Evil
I heard they killed one newbie just for asking where to download "Mulle meck bygger båtar".

I'd like to ask for your assistance for my issue :
I guess is Driver/HW related so i'll give you as much info as i can

System is an AMD 64 3500+ , Asus A8nSLI, Nvidia 7800 GT , 1gb ram , i have DT4 and all latest drivers (forceware 91.47) , all other games (securerom protected or not) works fine

SOTS + crack -> Works fine

However if i launch the 'original' exe it immediatly crash , that both for patched and unpatched game,
Both mounting an image and not mounting it , both as the clone release mounted and the reloaded one.

To make you understand it crashes immediatly after the dclick, before any securerom protection animation asking me to insert the original cd or any video (for the cracked exe the first one is the gamespy logo), no change using ASR , curerom or activating emulations

So since with the original EXE the game crashes immediatly whatever i do there may be some problem with my configuration... any suggestion on how to procede to isolate the problem ?

Thanks!!

Did exactly the same but doesn't work. It doesn't even run the exe. Nothing happens. Confused

Jesus christ this turned into a crack-conversation again Sad
The online version's exe is called "Sword of the Stars.exe"

Really amazing game, i personally think its better than Galactic Civilizations 2 as someone asked.
Why? Because while the complete freedom to build your own ships in GC2 is nice, its also in fact equally nice to simplify it by having 3 sections of every starship, where you simply choose which part to use in what section, thereby forming your own tactically and visually different ship, of pre-made parts which all fit together perfectly in terms of visual artstyle.
Rather than having every ship look like Lego, or the Enterprise ^^

Altough the lack of diplomacy is kinda boring, you wont ever have any kind of contact with the opposing species in SotS, except for non agression agreements / alliance requests, bribes and such.
This IS a game about Combat, and should be taken for what it is, not what it isnt.
Just like you shouldnt expect lasers in Forza Motorsport, you shouldnt expect happy aliens living in peace and sharing technologies in SotS Smile
This game is pretty dark in its historical style, once you meet another race, its hostile, its a fight for your life. Thats it Smile Unless you are powerful enugh to force an alliance or such.

Also, altough it IS a bit boring that there is 1 planetary body per star (once you travel to a star it is replaced by a planet), it is much much more immersive to have a true 3d universe with 300 stars, than the flat playground that is Galactic Civilizations 1 & 2.

using clone+patch no crashes here^^

about the game, it's ok but I can't really understand why the people here hype it so much
all you do is research, battle, build ships...

I'm ok with that but when your empire grows bigger and you get more planets there should be a msg when there is a planet which doesn't have anything left in queue.
It's annoying cycling though all the planets over and over every couple of turns.
Oh and I dont' posses the memory to remeber all the stuff like which ships I build on which planet and how long it's gonna take until it's build.

The battles are ok but do you use any tactics? (besides targeting specific areas)
I can easily imagine that you can play this game for >10h and be on the 200th turn.

Despite of your oversimplification I'm currently on my 1000th and something turn in a 350 star galaxy. This is easily one of the games where I feel i've gotten most for my money.
