Im requesting help on behalf of a friend. She used to use Pinnacle Studio 9 and had no problems whatsoever but then she replaced version 9 with 10 and when capturing video via the firewire card from her digital camcorder, she is constantly dropping frames!

In an attempt to fix this I have upgraded her FX5200 128mb videocard to a 6200 256mb video card, doubled her ram to 1gb and even upgraded her Sempron 2600+ socket A CPU and board to an Athlon64 3000 socket 754 CPU and board and still it drops the frames!

Her friend who has an Athlon XP 2000+ socket A, 512mb ram and 6200 256mb video card can use Pinnacle Studio 10 with no problems. He does have a different camcorder but he tried hers on his and it works with no framedrops so its not the camcorder at fault!

Anyone got any goddamn ideas because I am now officially clueless!

Ok I got my friend to contact Pinnacle and the best they could come up with was disable all startup programs!

How useless! Evil or Very Mad

lol I noticed the hdd gets some serious access. It goes nuts which is odd but I think that could be why the frames are dropping. I am reloading windows on different hdd and going to try it again.

In that case it could be that the hdd is running in pio mode. Check in system properties if this is the case, and even if it is running in udma, it might help to install the latest chipset drivers. Maybe they are missing completly, or it is a crappy via, sis, ali or nvidia chipset (let the flaming begin Wink )
