Why not? Crysis has fully destructable environments.

You can't tell anything about the AI from that though.

Whats with all this pre-rendered stuff?
Do they think more people be taken in if they use pre-rendered and scripted sequences completely with a fake first person perspective and a pseudo hud? This Star Wars FPS started it, Killzone did that last year, now BIA and Interstellar Marines.
Fluid Motions - lol! The final game will just be as jerky as all the other games.
Next-gen Game Trailers are like advertisements for McDonalds - they show you a delicious juicy BigMac but in fact you only get some pulpy wet bread with rotten salad. Rolling Eyes

I forget sometimes that idiots like you have already played every game ever advertised.

Of course it's scripted but as for whether it's pre-rendered or not, who cares? To be honest it's going to make little difference to sales as they're going to have to put real videos online at some point, and the games are so far from release any hype generated by videos like these will have died down and been replaced with the hype from the real thing. All it does is generate initial interest, the game has to prove itself to be a success.

There was method in the pre-rendered Killzone video, sony wanted to lessen the effect of all the Xbox 360 hype and reduce sales if they could.

Getting excited about a game is all part of the fun.

Yes, the destructible environment in brothers in arms is amazing.
The way they shot that small shed to pieces, and the way the wooden planks
reacted was very impressive.

For anyone who cares (like me Very Happy), here is the english transcript of the leaked audio from
the first 90 secs of the new MGS4 trailer:

Quote:
Snake: War has changed.

Snake: Our time has ended.

Snake: Our war is over.

Campbell: Since the Manhattan incident, restrictions on military intervention in foreign countries have eased, fueling demand for mercenaries.

Campbell: Today, the world's wars depend largely on PMCs, private military companies whose business includes supplying these mercenaries.

Campbell: PMCs have become a serious threat to the world.

Snake: The U.S. has exported too much of its military power. Now she's paying the price.

Campbell: In total, they've got enough manpower to rival the U.S. military.

Campbell: Based on our investigation, the five largest PMCs are run by a dummy corporation, which acts as a single mother company.

Snake: And the mother company...?

Campbell: Outer Heaven.

Snake: The one world in which soldiers will always have a place....

Definitely makes a fanboi wet, cant wait for the actual trailer.

You say it, its all about money making and corporate bashing. And you didnt get the point - there were always pre-rendered images and trailers of games and this is ok - create initial interest, I understand it. But this initial interest stops as soon as they use rendered, scripted shit and disguise it as in-game footage! This is called guided misinformation - Tyler Durden would be proud but I don't support that.

P.S: I know you have a very high opinion of yourself, your post count and your VIP Status but this does not give you the right to flame and label me as Idiot - not even in the useless void. Grow up.

You cant meen you think the AI looked good..(IN THE TRAILER YES, IM NOT SPEAKING FOR THE FINAL GAME NOW, SO NO NEED TO POINT THAT OUT) Germans just standing there In the open waving their arms like chickens..waiting several seconds before firing.. Come on!

Crysis.... Rolling Eyes

I got no need to go into some discussion about what the game or will not have In final.
This Is something I think, and I would be suprised If their physics are like that In the trailer.. (the wall crumbling) without scripted events.

Sig too big.

Shouldn't it really be '2 days' coz that's when people behind the scenes will be gettin in there and tryin the shit out.

Anyway it's obvious the nintendo Wii will pwn the show with crysis and games like that gettin a lot of game coverage (besides all of those on the Wii of course).

I honestly Don't see how the Ps3 is going to work out, and I wouldn't be surprised if they reveal a 'new look' PS3 at this years E3. They've been very quiet up until now, and unless they're gonna shock us with something big (which I don't think they will) then it's not gonna be a good showing for the Ps3 (as a console, some of the games will be great sure).

There's a difference between this and Killzone. These are actual in game graphics and how you play the game. I'm sure they coulda tweaked that sequence so it got as much of the effects and action in as possible, but so what? It's just showing the game in all it's glory in a short space of time. I'd imagine it'd be pretty hard to do that if you were creating your own game; what to leave in, what to leave out.

Still the PS3 and Xbox is way more capable when it comes to graphics and maybe even gameplay wise. No one knows how the Wii is going to be affecting the audience. Its a chance for sure but I also see it as an act of desperation from Nintendo.

As I said before, you have no way of knowing if it's pre-rendered or not. But the main point is, who cares? You'll know if thats how the game is going to look and play before you go and buy it so why whine about it.

That's where you're wrong. Read any developer info, and they say 'yea its good, but the technology out there now just doesn't suffice. We're working with textures and most of the power is sapped up by HD-TV". Yes it will be better, but the generation leap is minimal because of the incorporation of things like HD-TV. Read any other developer note and you'll also see that the wii is mentioned, their approach and more to the point how much more appropriate it will be as a gaming machine. (Even deleopers who aren't developing for the Wii)

not to mention the Wii will have games like, Zelda ocarina of time to play. No doubt with extra feaures or something too. It's deffo gonna be a winner and you can bet that the next generation PS / Xbox (if there is one) will incorporate things that the Wii has, for example the motion sensor.

I really don't see how the PS3 / xbox have the ability to beat the Wii 'gameplay' wise. As mentioned above, a lot of the power is taken up just by having HD-TV output on there. The physics won't be much better than the wii (if any) and when you look at how you play the game, the wii wins hands down. Especially with it's docking controller shells and whatever else they think up.

Also, I believe a poll released not so long ago (maybe a few weeks) by famitsu (i think) showed the Wii has over taken the Ps3 in terms of hype in Japan, and as well as with developers. Might not sound a lot but last year I believe the results were a landslide like 70-20-10 to the PS3 (10 being all other platforms).

The world is opening their eyes and I think by having a playable Wii at E3 this year, they're gonna make a shit loada money.

And when I talk about gettin new look Ps3's...
[img:58c66f99c2 ]http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2005/10/13/top_tech_ins_oct14,0.jpg[/img:58c66f99c2]

That's just a blu-ray player. Yes They can become more refined within time, i mean look at DVD players now. They're tiny, but that's not the point. At the very start (which is where we are now) the things were pretty big, and I believe heat is a major concern even on these, nevermind with all the other equipment.

I'm not complaining about the sie, or look anyway since it's just gonna be sat on the floor and out of the way, but if that's the 'big news about the PS3' this year, then

Also look at the size of these kits :/

http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/705/705349p1.html

I know they're gonna be smaller in the end, but that's fuckin huge!

Edit: why do you see it as an act of desperation? They've been developing this technology for years (hardly a rash decision). It's a bold move to branch away from it's competitors, but it'll pay dividends in the future.

Personally i don't think the Crysis screens\movie are rendered, but that is because i know they was ahead of most other games when it came to gfx and physics(cry engine). And the gameplay sequence from crysis - could really that be rendered?

I don't think they would do something that lame. But i could be wrong too, time will show Smile

I know you're a nintendo fanboi but that statement is pushing it a bit. Even the most optimistic predictions put the Wii at only a 15% marketshare in 2012, with the xbox at 30% and the PS3 at 55%.

The 360 has solidified it's position by coming out far before the other consoles, Sony has a massive fanbase in Japan, and can sell well based on the brand, Nintendo has a small loyal fanbase and a few inventive games. It isn't enough.

In comparative terms it is doomed to failure, yet it might be enough to keep nintendo in the console market until the following generation of consoles. I doubt it though.

Production problems nor release dates determine the products value in the end. Both you and me dont know shit about the future for those consoles.

Well that's where you're wrong. If you read my previous post I said the fanbase in Japan for the Wii is bigger than that of the PS3 now. Also not everyone is going to be able afford the PS3, and the xbox 360 is already selling too slowly.

Compaerative terms such as what? In terms of power, then yes the rev will seem outdated graphics wise in a few years, but then again the xbox and ps3 won't go through amazing changes either so their shelf life will be the same.

A good games base is all it takes for a console to be successful, and more and more devs are joining the Wii. that's not to say that the PS3 and xbox 360 have shit games. The Wii will have exclusives and when you compare the DS with the PSP you'll see that gameplay + low cost beats unneeded functions + high cost.

It's not about being a fanboy because I think the Ps3 can be really good, I just don't believe the 360 is good at all, but when you think of it properly and listen to the experts they all say the same thing!

http://uk.revolution.ign.com/articles/703/703515p1.html
Quote:

Famitsu polled gamers and software makers about their interest at E3. Both parties were most interested in Nintendo's new hardware. 47.4% of software makers and 45.3% of gamers expressed interest in Revolution. This topped PlayStation 3, which got 36.8% of the developer vote and 44.8% of the gamer vote. The remaining 15.8% of developers didn't respond to the question. For users, 4.4% selected Xbox 360 with 5.5% selecting "other hardware." The magazine did not reveal the number of participants in the survey.

I can only disagree I tried both the DS and PSP and find the capabilities on the PSP alot more convenient and the games alot more fun and look alot better! (based on those DS games which I have tried).

Well the market doesn't agree so you lose :/

You have an hypothesis whereas I have a tried theory. Of course they're not on the same scale but I think it will only work further in my favour. Not many people want a blu ray player - useless function yet they'll be payin a shit load for it.

I don't see how you can say the capabilities of a PSP can be the same as that of a DS though. I'd like to see the PSP pull off a game like kirby, or yoshi touch and go or nintendogs.

It might have better graphics and some good games, but you can't say the compatability is better when with 1:1 features the DS has killed the PSP. Particularly in the wifi / online department.

Also take note on the upgrade opportunities for a PSP simply magnificient. Though I dont want to take a discussion with you on this subject, we have been through with that and didnt concluded a thing.

So where did you get this information that the Wii has a larger fanbase in Japan then that of Sony?

The PS2 is dominating the previous generation console market, not only because it came out first, but because they love the console and the games in Japan. Nintendo on the other hand has the worst sales out of the three, although it's only lagging by about 2 million units behind the Xbox.

With the next-generation consoles, the 360 has a years headstart to establish itself, so it'll be a serious contender for the PS3. Both of these consoles offer multiple features beynd just playing games. The Wii has nothing but gimmicks at the moment, with both the name and the controller. It's not suprising this has generated alot of initial interest. But it'll dwindle away. Then it'll have nothing rely on but the strength of it's hardware.

When I was talking about it failing 'comparatively' I meant in the sense that it's sales will be dwarfed by the other consoles.

http://www.strategyanalytics.net/default.aspx?mod=PressReleaseViewer&a0=2479

http://www.kagan.com/ContentDetail.aspx?id=65

Two predictions of the Wii's future. None of them bright. The second link is the most optimistic one regarding the Wii I could find.

You call them gimmicks but I too can see the PS3 and Xbox360 built around gimicks. The main one of course being HD-TV. yes it good, but if it's going to take up 50% of the power then it's simply not worth having for me.

The wii doesn't claim to be taking a larger part of the market, it's more about openeing the world to the new possibilities and then when nintendo feel it's right to rejoin the graphics war it'll do that, but it'll have sony and microsoft lagging behind trying to copy it's controller.

Games on the wii will look great. Think of playin an xbox 360 without the HD-TV and you're there. Like many people said, they've got the experience of working with a gamecube so know how it works, to a good degree.

In my eyes the biggest seller in units will be the PS3, with the wii quite far behind. But that doesn't mean it'll be a failure at all.
