Played some of this game again today, its so DAMN hard. The only campaign I finished a level with yet was with the germans... But level 2 of the germans is impossible, you have 3 tanks and a few men, and you have to defend yourself against at least 8 allied tanks?

yes since you disable the channel those devices are on.
so your better off with just unpluging the cable to the dvd-rom, that way you can still use the hdd on the same ide channel.

i have played this for some time now and i can say that its not that great in my oppinion.
sure the physics are excellent and i hope more games will take after this game when it comes to physics.
its the gameplay that bothers me. i guess i was expecting a little more cammandos style of gameplay but its true what some people say that this is way more action oriented than commandos or desperados etc, and that is not my cup of tea Smile
some missions are awesome..the ones where you can take your time just like standard commandos missions. its the missions where you get attacked by loads of enemies that totally turns me off or the timed missions.
commandos3 also had a few missions like that and that sucked too :/

i will still play it through though, hopefully there will be some more take-my-time missions Smile

hmmm yea and the best part is i rarely ever use my DVD-ROM anyways since all games and apps are images... so i is it possible to just unplug the power on the DVD-ROM drive rather than the IDE cable? thx

no you have to unplug the ide cable. its the ide cable that really tells your system that your device is there even though it wont work since it wont get any power. Smile

some systems will hang at the startup screen and wont let you continue into windows if you unlug the power cable only.

No, I'm quite sure it is sufficient to unplug the power cable on the IDE cd/dvd drives. This is what I've been doing here.

Btw, to the illiterate: the NCRYISO release (what this thread was initially about), doesn't need any unplugging - if you can burn it correctly.

Unplugging the momex ought to be enough as then the drive should be dead and not communicate witht he pc

You really shouldn't run a HD and a DVD-ROM on the same channel.
Your HD will be knocked down to the same DMA speed as your DVD-ROM.

as i said, some systems wont get past the startup screen if you just unplug the power cable.
notice the "some" word.
some do not mean all Wink
if it works for you good Smile
unplugging the ide cable though will work all the time for anyone.

the reason why it doesnt work on some systems is because the mobo notice the connected ide cable even though the drive dont get any power and therefor it fucks up since it wont get any power.
to be honest, i havent had a single system that would work as normal if the power cable is unplugged.

In the WinXP device manager I can clearly see that my HDD runs in Ultra-DMA mode 4 and my DVD-ROM in PIO-mode both are on the same IDE channel.

Ok i just tried it again and its still not working Sad

- I uninstalled the game
- I installed the game using the mounted NCRY images with Daemon Tools
- I ran starforceclean.exe
- I unplugged my IDE cable with the DVDrw and CDRW drives.
- After the restart I mounted that tiny image that was posted a few pages back, I tried to run the game but no luck Sad It keeps saying 'An Error Encountered' Disc error blabla.

Anyone knows what I did wrong here?

One more thing, I was not asked to enter a CDKEY...

you problary entered the key at some other time and therefor its stored in the registry, even if you uninstall the game.

1: install the game with daemon tools or whatever you use.
2: start the game and reboot when asked.
3: enter bios and disable the devices or remove cdroms/dvdroms etc.
4: mount the new tiny image and try to start the game and if it doesnt start use starforceclean and reboot again and then try starting it again with the tiny image.

shuld work if you do that.

edit: no beeno its not Smile

I cant find an option to disable IDE in my bios, if I just disable the drives they keep showing up in windows, so I unplugged the whole IDE cable.

It might be in the advanced options in your BIOS.
I know for my Gigabyte board you have to press Ctrl+F1 on the main BIOS screen for them to appear

yes that will not work foxjet.

feyenoord, the option you need to change on that board is under "Advanced" and then "Chip Configuration" and its called "Onboard PCI IDE".
disable the channel your reader is on and it shuld work and you wont have to unplug your drive. remember that every device that uses the same channel will be disabled.

you problary tried to change under the Main option which wont work.

Even unplugging doesnt work, guess its something else... I think it has something to do with the cdkey. I used the one from the nfo (thats exactly the same as my friends legal key lol).

yeah this wont make it work, what i meant was, when you figure out the other error this will work and you wont have to unplug your devices Smile

if you used the nfo key you used the right key.
there are only 2 keys for this game, 1 european and 1 us.
i cant really say what you have done wrong from here.
but you did something the wrong way, thats for sure Smile
just redo everything and try to do it different every time Wink
