It’s just a matter of time for chips and hardware to become a commodity cause of the slow speed of innovation. But there is always something new distirbing the market, first COVID, now AI. Imho we will all be using cheap standard mini pc’s soon. Something like the new Xbox for instance.

What will be high end is going to get very costly. Nvidia etc can certqinly afford having plebs buy low end shite

No high end will be worth shit. Chips can’t become any smaller. You’ll see less gains with every generation so low end will catch up. A high end pc will simply be poor value so prices will drop or high end will just cease to exist. 80%+ of semi prices is margin. ASML makes 50 gross profit. Tsmc makes 50 gross profit, nvidia makes 80% gross profit. Without worthwhile innovation and scarcity, prices can drop a lot.
Innovation will go a bit further for data centers but you can’t fit those chips in a pc case cause of the power need and heat generated.

guess what, scraps from 10 years ago can still game perfectly fine in full hd .. its the software they refuse to update holding it back these cockroaches and ofcourse pispoor optimization. fuck unreal engine

You're not wrong. Scraps will also be bought up by scalpers. Fortunately we're at a standstill with graphics. One more generation and you'll be set for many years i believe. Hopefully that generation is affordable.

We can always hope. I'm not that hopeful though. They've got no reason to make their stuff affordable since they can still sell their super-overpriced stuff to us while we angrily mumble and complain about the ridiculously high prices. They're used to making record profits every year and have no intention of willingly lower those profits.

Of course. Had we been their only market then the prices would be alright. But cryptofags changed the market and now AI will increase the problem since they take it to yet another level.

This is just the start with AI. Now it's SSD's RAM and GPU's, but it's slowly building towards electricity & water bills as AI centers are being built worldwide and their insane energy & water costs will also be subsidized by YOU.
