Gaming laptop cooling solutions BARELY work and have a much higher failure rate. This is on midrange gpu/cpu combo let alone something beastly like a 5090. That's why they're all power limited just to last a year or two before becoming ewaste and replaced. Most gaming laptop owners are kids that never ever clean the fans from dust buildup or use them properly allowing for enough space for enough air circulation. Without power limits they wouldn't last a week.
THe laptop 5090 is actually a 5080 but with the price of 5090 plus extra $+
They need more power 170W hardly enough, maybe a separate power supply box that you can plug into your laptop when gaming, at least 350-400W.
I mean it's kind of always been that way that the laptop version is kind of the equivalent of then next lower gpu desktop version, but it's not quite the same.
I'm also going to say, that whatever the fuck laptop that guy was using is either really shit, or he has no idea how to set up a laptop to actually you know ... get good performance.
The actual benchmarks, most of what he's shown are worse then, or at best similar to mine, whilst I have a 4080 laptop. There is no universe his average fps should be that low in a lot of those games. I just don't know. I bet he does no undervolt on either gpu or cpu and just gets thermal throttled constantly. People have no clue how to use a laptop for gaming I swear.
Like mine is around 20% weaker than what I'd get with a 4080 desktop. Realistically though, my power consumption is also about 2-4 times less than what a full desktop pc with similar specs would be. At what point is the extra power just a waste?
