Game wise I like it a lot more than OW1, the major choice before leaving the planet is quite impactful, many skill checks require a big investment even though it's just the first planet, but apparently there's no NG+ so I don't really know what's the point of them being so high so early on, Hard is def challenging at times but the first boss fight:

Montelli in Vox Relay was highly overtuned and out of place, companions die immediately and it's a grenade spam fest, on top of that his gun has electric arcs jumping from your companions over to you, he has 2-3 minions shooting you and if you kill them he has drones deployed, fucking hate such stuff even on Normal it's a miserable fight and I was like level 6-7 with quite some decent gear...
So unless you invest in passing one of the checks (also high requirements 4+) and have to fight, it's really bad.
Worlds look so much better, Free Market Station and on the second planet I was honestly so surprised by how it looked because the levels in OW1 felt so uninspired and samey. They definitely did take a lot of what they did in Avowed right and took it over to OW2. Gunplay is decent, lots of perks, decent amount of dialogue and occasions for your traits to come into play. Exploration is rewarding and you even have some very funny flaws popping up from time to time.
I would still not pay full price, but for 20-25 bucks it would be really good value.

Same, had to use one of the magic UE5 mods before that it was very sluggish, even at 1440p.

Way too many enemies are redeemable through talk-no-jutsu. Even if I went the extra mile to gather a lot of clues that could be used in dialogues, some conclusions to conflicts feel forced and the people responsible don't seem to suffer consequences for their actions.
I'm still playing it. Which is surprising to me. It's kind of inoffensive and I think it kind of has the same thing going for it that Fallout 4 had, where despite it not being a particularly good rpg and having plenty of flaws, it was carried by its charm with the old timey music and fallout atmosphere.
I do like the flaw offers. A lot of them seem kind of really bad, but it's nice to see this in games again.
I can't really say if it is better than the first. It's been a while since I played that, but could be.
I do hope they don't try to redeem what's been set up as the main antagonist so far, or at least I hope you can just kill them anyway.
I still think the writing is lacking, forced at times and kind of unimaginative. I think the script could have done with a few more rewrites. Though I'm not sure it would help. There's some good ideas there and there's charm in the design, but it kind of falls short.
Like harry_theone said, for 20 bucks this would be a solid game to play. For 70... not so much, I wouldn't even get gamepass for it, although if you already have it, then it's not a bad one to try. Could get some enjoyment out of it.
I wasn't trying to imply they had pronouns. It's just I didn't want to spoil, even though it isn't much of a spoiler. I haven't really encountered the pronoun nonsense so far, outside of the typical garbage these days of body type 1&2 at character creation.
Surprised. Avowed had the only god relevant to the story be a "them" transosity fucknut. I wanted to kill "him" and feed "him" his guts, but i would waste my 50 hours so his pronouns was fortunate to survive the encounter with em
Definitely get that performance mod on nexus. I don't think I've ever played an UE5 game that performs this well before.
So far enjoying it im still at the first map. The characters can drag on with word salads for the sake of it but it seems the game has a solid foundation to accommodate you if you dont wanna deal with it or be a dick. I miss when RPG let you be an asshole instead of preaching to you how the right and only path is being a pussy.
Encounters can be approached with stealth or combat and some with speech. This is the closest thing we'll ever get to new vegas in this gaming landscape.
It's better than I thought it would be. Not among the greats by any measure, but decent. Some of the dialogue options are fun and you don't get automatically punished for being a bit of a dick.

I can finally run this with everything maxed at 4k without framegen at constant 60+ and no stutters, feels really smooth and responsive now. It is at ultra performance dlss, but to be honest, I can't even tell the difference between it and balanced.
Either way, tried the newest nvidia drivers and for whatever reason those broke it for me completely. Basically halved my fps and had my gpu usage stuck in the 30-40% range for whatever reason. I don't know what it is with nvidia this year.... Back to august drivers, which so far, for me, have been the only ones the whole year that worked without problems.
This sequel that almost no one asked for is quite the two-faced beast. It's evident that actual designers were involved with a nice layer of reactivity in the form of ingrained RPG mechanics and multiple ways to complete quests; however, (once again) I find that its narrative structure definitely falls flat when it comes to holding the pastel-coloured planets together without resorting to generic characters from the Kitsch-Verse, shallow rhetoric, motives and toothless humour. No matter how artificially furbished the dialogues may be, drivel and the skip button will always be friends
The way the game presents itself is also very much like its nuObsipeers (visual style, UI, arcadey abilities etc), though unlike ̶A̶v̶o̶i̶d̶ Avowed, NPCs can be killed, stealing gets noticed and branching does actually exist. There are traces of the golden age here crammed into something that works mechanically, too bad that something is The Vapid Worlds 2 and not a more interesting or memorable universe. It's the "[insert positive] BUT [insert nuisance]" sentiment that I experience with many other modern productions created to be disposable play-and-forget(tm) entertainment, and as it often happens, I still activated the shift-delete isoprocedure after a dozen hours as I cared very little about the story and its characters.
At least the game isn't a technical mess and doesn't come across as too miserable (looking at you, not Bloodlines 2), but it's a genuinely sad state of affairs when the best you can craft in 2025 is a sanitized and watered-down version of the real deal from the Mojave.
Does stealing get noticed? In my experience, if you're crouched... you might as well be invisible and you can steal everything. But god-forbid you steal something while standing up. Even if you're alone in a closed room, immediately everyone in the base is angry and you got a bounty on your head.

Only if they see you stealing stuff. Items get tagged stolen but I haven't noticed that that does anyting.

We fully agree on that, it is an underwhelming nuObsidian game through and through with recycled assets and so forth. I've merely mentioned three aspects here (killable NPCs, quests branching/multiple outcomes and basic stealing) that make the game a slightly more reactive experience than its fantasy counterpart.
Is that enough to make it a compelling RPG? Absolutely not, at least for me, as the dull writing couldn't do any heavy lifting and the repetitiveness on account of the streamlined world was too apparent. In fact, this TOW2 did end up in the recycle bin, just like Avowed.
