I managed to finish a couple of runs of the 1st H but when H2 was revealed in EARLY ACCESS some people mentioned that while some aspects have improved, others have become worse (I don't recall wich such aspects for the cons are tho)

The question is, what are those worse cons?. And have they improved them so they're not that worse anymore or are they still there?

Considering getting the game but need to know you guys' thoughts

Some people said the combat and bosses are worse but in my opinion it pretty much the same.

If they didn't define which aspects became worse well enough that they were unmemorable, are they really a valuable opinion to take in? Laughing

They improved everything from the first game, well unless you miss using a sword or playing as Zagreus then you're out of luck on Hades II.

It's brilliant, I have spent the same amount of time in Hades II as I did in the first one and I'm not even halfway through. Besides I'm betting everything they mentioned has been fixed long ago now, the moon-boons were a weird one in the beginning that nobody understood, by now there are really crazy builds with them.

@harry_theone

I really don't like some of the weapons wheras in H1 I played with all of them. Also the gradual unlocking of the Vow of Rival is just pointless padding. That's about it for me. Everything else is better and improved.

I think they’re way better in this one compared to first game. Didn’t like the projectile weapons in the original and the cast and omega attacks are a welcome addition.

More level variety tho I would have liked to have seen some alternate pathing within the levels. I.e. like dead cells does it is perfect.

Maybe I should have read some of the stuff they say instead of pressing X Laughing Laughing Laughing

Get various currencies and upgrade your cards, weapons and could cauldron stuff in the camp.

They didn't address the screen readability during combat. The 3D models for some of the new bosses look pretty meh.

I didn't care for the ending. It was too forced and made everything feel rather pointless.

Some narrative threads were left up in the air and I'm not sure if you have to play more to get some explanations.

They could have done more with what they had in terms of narrative and reach a more compelling conclusion.

That's disappointing to hear.

I've finally decided to give it a go now that it's released and ... Yeah, I don't know. I can't say it is bad, since it is built upon what Hades was, and at its core isn't all that different, so it's still fun, stylish and the soundtrack is good.

So... it's not a bad game. But it feels... stale? Derivative? I don't know. They really tried to capture the same feel, even down to the NPCs, many of which are pretty much copy pastes of original ones with a new coat of paint and boom, different NPC. They're fine I guess. But in general I feel the writing and characters are weaker and the combat is more of the same. It's just a worse game for me, and was hoping for a better ending to lift it, but that seems to not be the case.

There's more of it with the whole surface route, but that's not saying much. The game is also easier? Maybe it's cause I've finished the first.

I still enjoy playing, but I really wish they'd made something new instead. Or at least went to a different mythology if they wanted to keep the same formula. I get why they didn't, but it just doesn't hit like the first.

I beat Chronos 5 or 6 times and the other big boss 2 times and lost interest personally. I had fun with it for a while. Combat wise it felt better than the original but yeah it’s extremely formulaic.

I have also heard a lot of complaints about the ending.

Ok, so the game was getting old and I looked up the ending. I think I made the right choice, since if I continued playing and that was the ending, I would absolutely hate the game. You way undersold how absolutely terrible the ending is Nodrim.

They're addressing the (True) ending issues people have been raging about. If true then it could be great to finally buy the game (Read the end)

Even tho i still need to beat my 2nd and whatever more runs in HADES for SW coz daaaaaaaaamn it was long...Shotgun power FTW tho grinhurt

Anyways, upcoming patch notes for HADES 2 https://steamcommunity.com/games/1145350/announcements/detail/505090299391902120?snr=2___

Yeah, not sure I care if they change they ending at this point. They would have to make a fairly significant change for it to be worth it.

Anyway, I "finished" it in the meantime and yeah, I'd give it a "wish it was better" out of 10.

If you didn't like the first game than you're not going to like this either, and if you liked the first even a little, you will probably like this as well. It's a solid fun game, with nice visuals and a good soundtrack. The gameplay is fun, it's responsive. Maybe I feel like less builds are good compared to the first, but I haven't played the first in a while.

I've mentioned most of my criticisms for the game already in my previous posts, and whilst I may come of as very negative toward the game, and it is true I liked the original more. This is still one of the best purchases for the year. I had a lot of fun with it, and for 30$ it's almost a steal. It's just great value.

I just hope their next game isn't Hades 3, since I'm kind of going to be out on the studio at that point.
