A next-gen remake of Silent Hill 1 should be significantly different from what was done with the Silent Hill 2 remake. With SH2, they essentially modernized the original with completely new game engine, far better controls, and inventory system—while keeping the core experience intact.
But SH1 is far more dated and, frankly, not as good game as Silent Hill 2. Because of that, its remake should go beyond surface-level updates and involve deeper, more drastic changes.
Not really sure what to think tbh. I like both souls and silent hill and silent hill has been mostly gameplay and atmosphere focused. I think it can be decent if its not treated as a cardboard cutout dark souls clone.
Edit: Seems they are doing some damage control telling us that it's a action game and not a souls like. I am expecting a souls like But i'm alright with it unless it's made as difficult as a souls like.
I think that the new formula might be quite refreshing actually. I would be much less interested in the game if this was just another old stale survival horror style gameplay.
