Only played 30 mins for a bit but feels really good so far. Hope the timer gets removed somehow, I tried with cheat engine but it's not detecting it, if it's server sided, it's a rip.
IMO, they didnt do DLC's for AssCreed:Derpows and Stur Wurs: In-Laws because they failed terribly and they don't want to waste more money on them at this point.
But Anno 1800 has almost 400 euros in DLC's and am 120% sure same will happen with this one.
No thats wrong, when you buy all standalone DLCs and Cosmetic Packs you are under 300€, but the only ones you need are the Expansions DLCs which can be bought as Season Passes and those 4 are less than 100 buckaroos.
The Cosmetics often get sold on discount on uplay.
Although the anno series is (still) succesfull, Ubisoft realy fucked it up.
It's the only citybuilder that is exploited by a big stock listed company and it shows: bloated gameplay designed to grind the game forever and it's ridiculously expensive.
But if you are a fanboy, it's only 160 bucks for the full game
/* stop going political in gaming threads please */
@friketje Put your politics bullshit somewhere else, not into gaming. My guy, is it so hard keeping shit in their respective area? Or are you craving the attention?

I bet you actually enjoy some games too, don't see me shitting on them like a nasty old fart dwelling in a basement
This constant shitting on everything attitude some people here have is so worn off and boring by now, get something else to do.
Anno is an overpriced, bloated grind and it's just the same old game all over. But some people like it, not gonna blame them.
But claiming that 160 bucks for a full game is "fine", that's fanboyism.
In this genre I think Timberborn is awesome. Same type of gameplay. Offers something fresh with the water mechanics. And the endgame is about building fun and creative stuff, not doing the same old shit over again Ubisoft style. Couldn't recommened it enough. Although there is a case waiting for full release cause it has the potential for a great campaign that isn't there yet (dunno if it will get one though).

• Nowhere did I say it's fine nor did I remember buying 1800 at 160 bucks, you're delusional. It only has so much DLC because the game was one of the very few big successes Ubisoft had, they can be thankful they have such a franchise.
• same type of game, literally had lots of improvements coming from 2070 and is the best entry in the franchise since release.
• Timberborn, a completely different type of game, like saying Age of Empires is 1:1 like Anno. Again not gonna shit on it like you are doing, surely a great game and not my cup of tea at all.
• Endgame fun and creative, for what reason and what's the point? Empty argumentation, most end games are fillers. The endgame in anno is multiple things from skyscrapers to airships to items. Or a big research island to get all the experts for production. It all rewards clever usage of items and combinations. Maybe the depth is just dull to you because you can't be arsed learning it. Bloated my ass.
• 'same old shit ubisoft style', clearly have not played it at all.
Timberborn already costs half of Anno and doesn't have a campaign, Anno has multiple and you can choose to ignore or continue your campaign even after finishing.
lmao man you're being edgy on purpose Whatever though, you only wrote this to back up your prior bullshit. Stay salty and aggravated, keep hating, I'd rather play
Anno and Timberborn are the same genre, it's the settlers type of city sims that are about production chains.
I just don't like anno, never did. I realy can't be bothered with the mechanics. It's so slow, you'll end up with realy ugly cities. And it's just doing more of the same, it feels grindy. And "perfecting" the game is all about building your city withing the rules the devs set. The better you'll follow the rules, the better it goes (true to the german roots of the game )
I tried the demo and was bored after 30 mins. True, can't be bothered with learning the game, but that's also cause i'm not having fun.
Don't think you understand what I meant. Within a genre it's still vastly different, apples and oranges, still both fruit but never the same.
That is not an IMO type situation, it's daft at best. Some just want to complain for the act for complaining. To quote: 'withing the rules the devs set. The better you'll follow the rules, the better it goes'
Again with that weird undertone for w/e reason, maybe lifting some of that paranoia would help it's a game and every game has a set border or 'rules' if you didn't notice, it's not to ruin your fun. Plenty of other games that let you play this freely and let you build wherever you please like FOUNDATION and similar titles. But even those require... playing the game and learning the mechanics, like... every game does.
But alright, though I won't let things stand that are not only factually incorrect but also simply because you are too lazy to try.

Really hits me back with that Caesar III feeling
If you set the gamespeed to 3x, the timer still runs normal so you can get further in the demo. However, there are limitations with respect to research and upgrades which is resulting in huge fire problems and rebuilding constantly.
@dethy Honestly don't know why people expected the timer to run faster, it's game speed, I would've thought people knew it was seperate. But indeed 3x is default game speed for me in the beginning.
I did notice the fire situation, built 3 fire stations and it still was super high. UI is also a big argument, I thought the build menu was rather unintuitive when new things were unlocked gets messy quick.
Yea, there are some issues with UI. I don't mind the changes, we can get used to it, however, multiple times I had those red notifications overlapping the build menu which was pissing me off on multiple occasions.
Other than that and the limitations of the demo. I'm quite pleased with the game and am looking forward to the release. I like how having some production buildings near housing creates additional bonuses and such. Will make city building interesting.
I bet at some point, they'll release DLC that will add a mega island like they did in 1800 which will allow us to build HUGE Rome-like cities

This I agree with, Timberborn is more 3D voxel factorio on peaceful setting, with wood and beavers.
Plus no MP, why I didn't get it. Games like this is 10x more fun for me playing against friends.
I'd even say those that like Anno may or may not like Timberborn, totally different mechanics and itches different parts of your brain that like assembly line mechanics. The only thing they have in common is: Make things, to make more things, to make other things. Otherwise totally different game styles. 1/2 of anno is fighting for resources (or trying not to lose ships with resources when at war). Timberborn has no combat or war.
