I thought the demo was great and 7-8/10 reviews is good enough
Elex and Gothic 3 got lower average than 7-8 and for me they are kind of 10/10 games, though of course, G3 was terrible at launch and just recently got good

Really? 10/10? You think the combat in these games is incredibly good?

But I really don't play them for the combat, totally different mindset when if i decide to play any of them in comparison to e.g Elden Ring. So i am still having a, close to, 10/10 experience with them. They absolutely have issues, like any game.
The combat experience is mostly a grind in these games, similar to playing a hack'n'slash, just brain dead combat. though neither game is as focused on combat as a hack'n'slash game is, which is a good thing.

From the demo it also reminded me of those, especially Elex. I'll wait for reviews before 'ing

How greedy and money hungry you must be, to ignore the medium that raised you, cultured you, and now also gave you the opportunity to make money doing what you like?!
It's mind-boggling how much talent, intelligence but also stupidity coexist in some of these developers...
You speak of developer like its a sole entity. It's a company so its the lead dev (and publisher) to some degree to hold responsibility. They have 60 people working on it. And who said they all like doing it? Some might be just be good at it.
I am (told at least) I am good at coding. I don't like doing it for a job, and only I do it for my job because I am good at it. I don't see it at all as an opportunity to make money doing what I like. I see it as opportunity to make money doing what I am good at. (well I like coding, I dislike being told what to code).
If my boss came and went "We are going to code a mediocre cash grab that gets a 5/10 rating and forgotten it exists in a year, and you can retire", I'd be like: Sounds awesome, let's do it.
I don't care if its the medium and setting that got me to where I am in life now and gave me the opportunity for the cushy ass job I have now. it's a means to an end. I got the cushy ass job not because I had the most passion to do it, but because I had simply had the skill to.
Just because someone is good at something, doesn't always mean they have a passion for it. Some of the lead devs on this game at Rogue Factor, might be the same. And employees the same, Say my boss does have a passion for what we are making, doesn't mean I do. It just means I was hired because I am good at what he needs.

I don't care if...
That's because you are a selfish prick and all you care about is money.
But I guess that's what it takes to "survive" today in this world, isn't it?
If everyone on this planet would think like that we'd all be fucking then.
No I am a selfish prick that doesn't have a passion for coding. And if I could stop doing it everyday so I am not homeless, I would.
I take a lot of passion in my woodworking I sell. Because I am good at it, and like doing it. Coding? It's simply "What I have to do to pay bills".

And Id wager more people are, than are not like that about this work/job.
They have a sense of commitment to the job for sure. But how many average people you think have a passion for say working walmart register, or a passion for middle management, or most any job. Id' assume most here even don't do that for their job. Or even care much, about the company they work for other than it needs to do good enough so they don't get let go.
Or even without 'retirement money' cash grab result, most would go "EH, does this output product they got me working on do well enough to keep my job? Good enough for me"
I'm just saying just because you have a passion for playing games, doesn't always mean those making them share that passion, some do some don't. They just need to be good enough at it to be profitable. Not ever game coder loves gaming. Some got the job by being good at coding, not from liking gaming.
Hell I code for newspaper/magazine software presses use to print them. I didn't get into it because I have a passion for printed media. I got in it because it paid me enough to do it for them.
And do I care about putting out only what I consider the best product in my eyes? No I care about getting paid to do whatever my boss tells me to slap the keyboard and make. He wants dumb features added? Got it boss, dumb features you shall have.
I'd wager I am not the only employee in the world that thinks like that. I'd say more do think that way, than actually have a passion for what they do.

Well then, you are the perfect coding cog in the consumerism 'machine'.
You also talk and think like an employee, an executant that only wants to get paid and doesn't care about anything else. Which is sad, bad and destructive in the long term.
There's nothing wrong with working to pay the bills. No matter the work. But when you display such "I don't give a fuck" attitude towards it... it's time to get a slap, because it's shit for everyone, including oneself.
That woodworking, though... might save your soul and dignity.
Because I am. I'm there to get paid to do a job, they tell me to do. I don't decide what is good or bad to add to the software. I am paid to add what other people decide is regardless if I agree.
And not many people at all are willing to stand up and say "I refuse to be part of this consumerism and demand you change practices" at most any job. If most people did, most all big business would fold within a month. Hell we wouldn't be talking right now, because both our ISPs could not find enough people willing to work for them despite their policies and practices, to keep it running.
So If we are going to start slapping people for being that way, we got a LOT of slapping to do.
In the end, some companies will cash grab, some won't. Everything is a bell curve on a large enough scale.

Wut? Because people don't care enough to risk personal detriment it means they are fearful, don't understand it, and slaves to it?
Not everyone thinks like you. I know exactly what I want, exactly what I am part of, and how it all works. Its just not in my 10 top things I feel I need to make a lone stand to fix.
slaving isn't the term I would say fits, at least for me. I am parasitic on the current system. Maybe even co-symbiotic parasitism (It benefits me, I benefit it, but at a cost to each).

There is ONE slap to do to fix this. A big, world-changing, personal auto-slap to wake the fuck up.
And human nature kicks back in, and we are back where we were eventually. This is the state we made it over centuries by being us naturally, not by us unwilling to be us naturally. This IS our nature, by evidence of its what we got as the system we formed. Human nature is flawed, error prone, and tribalistically centric. The way things are is exactly how humans, would human. Not that we cannot find flaws in it, just we cannot force change those flaws is all. As everyone disagrees what the flaws...even are.
Edit we (well in my car I made people get in) are waaaay off topic.
On topic: If the games a cash grab. Don't blame the faceless devs as a conglomerate entity of 'them' with equal greed and blame. Blame the lead devs that is deciding what the game is. As most the others are just doing a job they are told to do, to get paid at the company that gives them money to live.

so the negatives i've seen is no boss fights and limited enemy variety.
its kind of strange to talk about enemy variety as a big issue though, isnt it? i mean there are tons of games where you fight either only humans or only zombies, yet you never see someone take a way a few points from the game because of it.
no boss fights. Gothic 2 never had any boss fights, not really an issue imo. But i can see how we have become used to it so we expect games to have it.
I can’t believe how small this game is lol, it’s like 20GB.
Coincidentally I preloaded Cronos: The New Dawn and that’s not much bigger.
Here’s me freeing up 100GB+ and I only need 40GB pretty much
Probably encoding videos to lower bitrate, compression of files and optimalization. Its unreal and there were neither any shader compilation or stutters. I just started it though, but havent gotten far.
