Can you turn off DOF in cutscenes? UE has this shitty DOF implementation that just smears background into mush. I much prefer no DOF than that. In comparison, BG3 was brilliant with DOF. Proper specular highlights, and bokeh galore. It even supported different shapes of aperture used, and spherical aberrations. It was one of the main reasons why cutscenes looked so well there.

New to the PC gaming scene (well, new as of the last 10 years). Do people still pirate PC games? How long after release do they get cracked? Or are people just buying them these days...?

If they don't have denuvo they get released very fast. If they have denuvo then they don't. That's pretty much it, they may come out once denuvo is removed, but nobody cracks it these days.

Apparently a pretty short game (~10-ish hours is what I'm getting from what I'm reading.) but immersive, mixed criticism so far but eh, at a low enough price or if downloading it is still a viable option, maybe?

Mafia 1 wasn't that long either but it was a fine story, barely remember Mafia 2 other than it holding the F-word record for a while back when it launched.

And Mafia 3 had the right idea but a terribly exhausting gameplay loop to get to the fun story bits, or at least more fun than the bugged experience and overworld management was.
(Don't think they quite had the budget or dev time either but I'm not sure any studio other than Rockstar has those means.)

Or it could just be fancy visuals in a shallow gameplay experience with bare-bones story.
Hard to judge from what could be buyers-remorse posters, people who just care about the visuals or potentially biased reviews or videos that barely count as a review. Very Happy

finished the game, it was a good movie, graphics acting cinematography were so good i didnt mind in the end the very simplistic and almost no gameplay and stale map, but at least its one of the best looking maps in a game. story too is simple and predictable but i liked the characters

What a waste though, i agree with the reviewer who said it was a missed opportunity. I have no interest after watching a few reviews.

Solid foundation for a game that isnt there, basically.

That is basically all Mafia games since Mafia 2 in a nutshell.

You can, but the game pulls you by the hair at all times almost. I was a bit stressed wondering when i can go upgrading. Was kinda weird.

At one point a bit late the game has you driving tonthe upgrade place so its kinda linear in all things. Fine by me, but the upgrade place should have been at the base.

Free roaming in this game is boring anyway. Good thing you can skip those. Not that I did.

Free roaming in Mafia 2 was boring as well. To be honest, it's boring to free roam in most open-world games when you don't do missions.

And Mafia games were never about the open world.

You could roam freely after unlocking areas. I don't remember if you had to unlock areas in Mafia 2.
