Quest bugs are there but it's doable. Silly thing though devs expect you to restrict saving using the Saviour Schnapps while this game is so buggy, but that's what mods are for.

Combat will never make sense just like in part 1.

Heard enemy AI got far worse etc, seen so many posts while reading on forums,YT etc.
No surprise, there's no open world that comes out and it's fine to play within the same year, at least it's extremely rare.

Yeah it's too bad about most games not having any fun combat. Elden Ring and any of the Horizon games has great / satisfying combat, it's like 2 games i can think of out of, uh, many games that i've played in the recent years.. edit: oh, latest Armored Core was cool too.

I don't play this for the combat and it's such small part of the game.

With 1.3 though combat has gotten harder and you are forced to spend more time with it.

And then you'll realize just how bad it is. Laughing
So you can't run up to 5 guys anymore and kill them all. It's harder and the yank will kill you in the end. For some reason mobs can still whipe away 3/4 of your health with a lucky hit.
So sneaking it is now.
When sneaking you are forced to use the stealth kill. But this can only be done when the mob is standing still. So you'll think fuck it, just attack him from behind and get 2 or 3 free hits. But you can't. They are invulnarable untill they have done their animation drawing their sword. And then a couple of others join and it's the old try to keep aggro with the one mob you are fighting, preventing being backstabed or draw aggro from a new mob. It's so bad.

That's the problem with this combat, it's all fixed animations with skill checks, the don't know how to make an action game.

What are the must-have mods for KCD2? I already have the "save any time" mod.

I'm currently using just a few essential ones: Smooth Cutscene FPS + No Letterbox, Instant Herb Picking II, Remove Arrow and Rock Throw Trails, Enhanced Global Illumination and Lighting

There are some nice texture/NPCs mods as well, though they may or may not be seen as an improvement. Many of the popular mods are actually designed to make the experience easier, which makes little sense as the game already becomes rather trivial after a while in terms of challenge.

^ No idea.

But here's a nice one:

Witcher Longswords - https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance2/mods/2299
_

This one seems useful:

Instant herb picking - https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance2/mods/32
_

Game is probably unplayable without this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance2/mods/230
_

Totally unnecessary Reticle for Bows and Crossbows

Cheers!

Also: does the game get any better/more interesting later on? Because the walking simulator that is at the beginning (I'm about 6 hours in, looking for the dog and some people) is quite boring.

It definitely does, the sense of progression is there (though its curve is noticeably softer than KCD1's) and quests get more complex/hectic with twists and some genuinely amusing outcomes. I'm still only about halfway through the game since I was waiting for the patches to adjust the balance a bit (which didn't do much as my Henry is already overpowered Razz) and because it's one of those rare fully immersive games that I love to play at snail pace.

That's good to hear, thank you!

I wonder how/when Henry becomes OP, as right now, handling even 2 bandits is out of the question for me, as he quickly gets fatigued and skewered.

if you do a lot of side quests in the first area (trotsky) the game becomes piss easy later on.
Most enemies were one hit kills for me.

It does not. The first 20 hours are best. The start of the game makes the most sense cause it's a struggle to survive and there is clear progression. Afterwards the game becomes trivial. The basic gameplay just isn't any good.

This game is all about immersion. If you think it's a walking simulation: this is a walking simulator. I liked the immersion/history factor a lot for the first 40 hours or so, but afterwards the poor questing and story and total lack of chalenging gameplay are an issue. Questing is very poor. The worst was being a waiter for like 20 minutes: doing waiter stuff. It was so boring. And there are lots of those tedious moments. I finished the game, but only cause I had so much time invested and just had to finish this. The main story sucks btw. It does not make sense, there is no story basicaly. The scenes and acting are done well and the production values are stellar, but the story itself: it's not there.
Suddenly it's over and you are like huh? what was this about??

7/10 for me, but also cause the game is to long. It's a 8,5/10 as a 40 hour game.

That's the thing: I have found all quests fucking boring so far. I haven't even started many of them, as their premises are already ehh, I don't give a fuck. And the ones I have, are just plain boring. Go here, go there, then go to yet another place...

If you're not interested by realistic "mundane" medieval people stories with no fantasy stuff then yeah this game will be very boring for you setting wise. Just stick to the mainstory where there is a lot more action, battles and big twists and turns and excitement.

I honestly respect what the devs did here by keeping most of the side quests as just normal people stories, tho the nomad ones were annoying by most people's opinion due to all the back and forth.

For me just getting lost in the world was a pleasure, the humor, the visuals + all the immersive sim stuff you can fuck around with and see what happens was fun (esp on a second playthrough where u give zero fucks)

I thought the main quest in this was well done, i'd say the game got more interesting, quest-wise, towards the end. The side characters in the sequel were pretty great especially Zizka and the Baron. The side quests however were fairly meh from what I recall and had too much running around, but complaining about that in an open world RPG is like complaining about having too many enemies to kill in a shooter.

I think in the first game, for ME at least, the progression system did a lot of heavy lifting in immersing me in the game world. I was almost immediately getting into fights with groups of 2-3 bandits in this game and having no problem dispatching them, whereas in the first game that was butthole puckering and you had to be really careful navigating the world because of it.
