Historian takes us on an hour walk-around through AC Syndicate Victorian era London.. Amazing the level of detail that was put into this series back when they still gave a shit about it, feels like it's sorely lacking from the recent entries...
With other characters i bet i could've gotten at least some enjoyment out of this.
I think their first DLC should've been another playable character.
They should've had that as a back-up plan; "let's develop dialogue and story with a third male samurai in mind, that we can easily introduce as a DLC if needed"). Wouldnt have taken much i bet + could tremendously boost sales and rep.
They could still introduce a new playable male Japanese character, but maybe he's locked out of some stuff that requires the other two.. But ubisoft will ubisoft..
All the little subtle touches the game engine does with the visual presentation are striking but yeah, still have a ways to go, stylized visuals are more of my thing now so Tsushima and Yotei have a bit of an edge there.
Nice of them to fix the HDR implementation as well since that really helps with the games presentation, though the gameplay loop itself along with recurring bugs, long standing still open issues and other concerns also crop up.
A strong opener that fizzles out early and doesn't really manage to recapture that is also a bummer.
But you can see rain drizzle down buildings all fancy like and the seasons are a neat touch, tough the biome diversity suffers for it and the grind for upgrade materials for both the gear and hideout translate into spending what would amount to decades storming the same early locale castles over and over.
Judging by the Cheat-Engine discussions Ubisoft also spends way too much focusing on combating item unlocking rather than fixing actual game issues. Not very surprising though since that is a recurring thing for most publishers with these game elements present.
EDIT: Also even if pups now exist and animals comes in greater variety they are still the same low-poly fuzzies since around when AC: Origins came around.
Asset quality and NPC suffer the same issue, objects do break depending on how its impacted now though and "Glorious hair mode" is a PC exclusive option added in.
(Consoles I think limit this to lower quality other than the player characters.)
And as a personal pet-peeve the higher-end armor sets once again come in as over-elaborate with golden highlights and other details, thankfully it can be customized back to something a bit less garish looking.
