Spamming 'perception' will probably get old fast. You only need it to find clues as other items are highlighted by default, and its reach isn't that big, so I'm probably gonna miss a lot of clues when I forget to right click every 5 meter I walk.

Yeah, Disco Elysium did it better. All POI were easy to see and it was how you interacted with them via skill checks that determined the outcome

I don't like this spamming shit, it always makes you feel like you'll miss something if you don't continuously hit it

I dunno, the game is based in Warsaw and the protagonist is called Wiktor Szulski, seems plenty of Polish to me Cool Face

It need less Polish in that case Cool Face

The writing in this game is very inconsistent. The flavor text from the thaumaturge perception ability is great. But the dialogues are often quite weirdly written and tied together.

Meh refunded it, too console-centric and didn't like what I saw of the combat.

I didn't quite enjoy my time with the isokurwa either and ended up shift-deleting it, which is a shame because the concept looked interesting. Alas, the rather cheap direction and dialogues along with the fact that the investigative process basically boils down to smashing a button whilst waiting for the outcome felt more mundane than I expected

The combat didn't help either, though I genuinely liked the OST with its folkloristic mood which reminded me of the good ol' Geraldo.

I've got the isodemo, so I'll continue Very Happy but yeah, the story isn't exactly gripping, and same for combat. And you do have to spam right click every 5 meter, as there are not always visual or dialog hints that there's a clue around. Rolling Eyes

It looks like combat isn't even the main focus, so I changed the default combat difficulty from 'hard' to 'medium' so it doesn't become even more a nuisance (did the same with that open world Sherlock game)

You don't have to spam anything. You can see the blood petals and you will discover the item if you move closer. The perception is there just to assist you.

Well, just did the test and you definitely need to use it. The petals might show up for the quest you're tracking (or perhaps it's the main story line), but there are many (many Very Happy ) more that only show up when using perception.

Been playing this and so far lots of interesting ideas but holy kurwa is it a jankfest and I think they should've went the disco elysium route and omitted the "combat" system entirely as it just halts momentum for no fun at all.

The storytelling is a bit off, I think maybe it's a polish culture thing with the way people talk being translated quite literally? idk if im gonna finish this one men

The game is average at best. I pushed through to the finish line and I can say there are very little redeeming qualities to it.

The story is written by amateurs who were busy enough to inject today's social politics at every freaking corner. It wouldn't have been such a problem if the dialogues were natural, the plot was interesting or the gameplay was interactive and not trash.

It's a shame such an immersive artistic direction was wasted on this.

yeah the art was solid and I think it's the main pull of the game. Once things start moving tho it begins to fall apart.

What a shame

Yup, finished it a few days ago, and I agree it's a wasted opportunity. It took a lot of points from The Witcher, I felt (the usage of the signs being the most obvious one), but it's implemented quite boringly. The combat is out of place, they should have removed it completely, like Disco Elysium, but they probably didn't dare to.

Once I could, I immediately changed the appearance of my character so he looked a bit like Val Kilmer in Tombstone, which made everything a bit more bearable too.

It had some nice moments, like with that gangster buddy (the drunk night out just needed a "summon the bitches" to make the witcher reference complete), and some of the choices & their consequences are not bad either. But most of it is just so... boring. Dialogs are indeed strange at times, as if translated directly from Polish, and the writing just isn't as enticing as Disco Elysium. And considering the game is like 80% text & dialog...

There's lots of lore and information in the diary which is cool, but alas, I also couln't be bothered.

I liked the investigation/perception side quests in W3, so I wouldn't mind that much. As long as they don't force you to spam it every 2 seconds Laughing

Technically, the game is more than fine, they just needed a much better director. You can tell the devs put their heart in it (as I mentioned, the lore is and background is quite extensive).
So The Witcher remake could still end up good as that part is more or less covered by the original version.
