You always see articles like 'Two ex-Witcher devs start new studio', but then the game is some indie thing that has none of the charm, uniqueness or scope of the games they made at CDPR
But there are some cool indie games coming out, this one reminds me of Deus Ex (original) a lot:

A new Deus Ex / Dishonored / Kingdom Come / Bloodlines by competent devs would be very nice though |
The problem with that, is that teams these days are so big that having the "2 ex-insert favorite studio devs" announcement means nothing. In the past it could be exciting, as it was a small team and you knew those people most likely contributed something important to the game. Now it's 2 of the 300 devs that worked on game x... who cares at that point? Unless they were leads in their department then it might as well be anyone, since they likely had no say in how that game was made. |
+1 to both posts.
Those 'fragmented' 2/3/5 developers mean nothing. Especially in a huge company where tasks are strictly separated and particularly (unique) assigned.
You don't have access to other areas of development in detail. You might THINK you understand or know your colleagues' work, but you don't®. You don't fix their problems and don't see their creative process unfold in time, simply because you are confined within your personal tasks.
There's also the Dunning–Kruger 'syndrome' that might appear in some people, thinking that if they once were part of a huge, successful team, they might reproduce success on their own. Which is false and you are kidding yourself if you think that...
_
There's ONE, rare exception to this: you are an indie dev., part of a team of 1/2/VERY small people. In this case you probably are a multi-tasking, multi-disciplinary, multi-genius motherfucker.

| Quote: | The Swedish gaming company Embracer Group AB is canceling a video game in the beloved Deus Ex series after two years of development and will lay off a number of employees as part of an ongoing initiative to cut costs, according to people familiar with the moves.
Eidos, the Montreal, Canada-based studio behind the game, will instead focus on an original franchise. The canceled Deus Ex project, which had not yet been announced, was slated to enter production later this year, said the people, speaking anonymously because they are not authorized to talk to the press. |

Still we wait.. |
so
- two years in development
- "a Deus Ex project"
- slated to enter production in late 2024
=> 2 years of preproduction + hald a year of it planned , started still under Square Enix (if i am counting right) , Jensen VO wasnt contanced
i dont think this was a sequel ... could have been anything within the IP tbh
