This is not XCOM gameplay. But I get it, you didn't have the chance to whine in this thread yet.

Hope it's good.
Very glad it has proper graphics unlike games like Knights of the Chalice 2 (they fucking downgraded the graphics a shit ton from the first, which looked quite nice and ultima-like) or Battle Brothers. The decline in indie graphics in the recent years is sad, there are so many piss ugly games now.. "are we gonna do animated characters, nah, let's make them buttons that moves around on the screen, that's enough effort..."

Delayed:
| Quote: | | In order to apply final touches and be able to provide a great launch experience, we have decided to move the full release date of Knight's Tale on Steam from February 15 to March 29, 2022. The new date will make for a stronger release and a really polished version of King Arthur: Knight's Tale. |

New Release date: April 26, 2022

Knights,
We have decided to move the release date of King Arthur: Knight's Tale from March 29 to April 26.
Content and gameplay-wise, King Arthur: Knight's Tale is mostly finished and ready for release, but over these additional four weeks we'll be focusing on improving voice acting and finishing localization tasks, in addition to testing, ensuring our players get the best and smoothest launch experience possible.
It wasn't an easy decision to make, but still, we think it was the right one, as our intention is to release a game we can be proud of. We'll use the additional time to iron everything out properly. At the same time, we'd like to apologize for making you wait (again) a tiny bit longer, and would like to thank you all for your continued support.

When installed it's 121 GB. Pretty huge, and IMO unacceptable size, for a CRPG with mediocre graphics. Don't get me wrong, the game's fun, but I'm just not sure what would warrant that kinda size. Lazy optimization/compression on the devs part.

I'd basically have to delete every other game on this laptop to install your one game. I'm quite interested in this game... but not at the expense of every other game on my PC. I really hope you can figure out how to cut it approximately in half. I'll gladly at least try the game then. (And hopefully like it and keep it/keep playing) |
Anyone know how it runs? |
It runs fine for being a top down CRPG - I'm on a GTX 1080 @ 1080p and I don't notice any hitches or stuttering. The graphics are nothing to write home about, they're adequate to mediocre at best. Everything has this grainy/smudgy grimdark filter applied over top of it, so everything looks equally shitty in terms of the visual fidelity. It suits the tone and setting of the game, but I don't care for it.

I tried it for a bit. There are a few things that bother me about the UI design and some graphic options like motion blur are missing.
The gameplay seems solid, the aesthetics are cool and the writing is okish (so far). I have my doubts that this will deliver a memorable story, but the gameplay is enticing enough to keep one going.

I finished the first act. Despite questionable voice acting and poorly paced writing, this is a solid game so far. Fantastic art style, cool characters, good build variety, tactical gameplay, c&c and great progression. And all this with very little rng involved.

WHAT'S NEXT
Things won't stop after the launch of course. We're working on hotfixes (already released minor ones) and quality of life updates. Besides these, the game will receive its first big patch in a form of a free content update in June.
We're happy to announce "The Chained God", the first free seasonal content update for King Arthur: Knight's Tale, coming in June for all players.
In "The Chained God" players will take up the role and will be able to play as the mighty Fomorians, the brutal and terrifying giants of Avalon - the main enemy faction of the Knights of the Round Table. The update features a brand new chain of short story missions, focused on these mystical creatures, introducing new gameplay, new items and expanding the lore.
"The Chained God" is the first of many free content updates coming to Knight's Tale. Besides these, other, longer form content is also in the works, however, details about these will be revealed later.
Thank you for your support!

I finished it and I can say I'm quite happy I backed this on Kickstarter. The campaign was worth it and there's even some endgame content. It's a shame the voice acting is so bad (with a few exceptions) that it makes even the writing seem worse than it is. I think some of the missions were over-tuned with some artificial elements, but all in all it's a solid experience from start to finish.
