Its very conveniently placed 2 moths after Oppenheimer (3 nukes in one trailer!), 1 month after blue beetle, right on the heels of Foundation season 2 finale and a month before Dune part 2.
Lots of cool artsy people involved (editors and art from dune, sicario, arrival, mad max etc)
+Teaser trailer:
Kinda flying under the radar right now with no hype/marketing which is not a great sign.
Seems like they gave the director Godzilla to test his big blockbuster chops, then moved to Rogue one, and now he's making something more personal.
for a movie that just released it really is, it's usually like 8.5-9. Even 4/10 garbage movies can start at 8.5 because everyone involved with the movie (my guess) rates it 10/10 + perhaps some use bots to hype it up, it's only sustainable for a short period.
Done the mistake so many times to download a new ~8.5/10 movie, and i didn't check how many reviews it had
but it might be decent too, seen some positive reviews from people who usually have good takes.
The movie was a 5-6. I think if you like Marvel / blockbuster stuff its probably much higher. It's a simple story wrapped in 2+ hours of lasers and explosions.
Yeah, watched yesterday. Garth Edwards is a VFX guy like Neil Blumkamp and like Neil he is pretty overrated. Ain't a screenwriter but somehow keeps doing it with lame results.
Uninteresting characters, undercooked setting, knowledge about physics not even once but a lot of rule of the cool in the movie.
Also magically growing main characters' hair throughout the movie
