I got that dvd down a time ago and made a HQ avi file of it. it's only 181 mb.

hmm the one I am downloading is 1311.88mb
is that not likely to be unbelievably superior quality?

The PC version will end up looking far far far better

Remember when the last elder scrolls came out... most people could hardly run it.....

In 6-12 months.. the xbox version will look exactly the same .... while imagine a PC in 12 months.. u will be able to have nice AA ... AF ... etc etc etc etc.....

Headshot, your link works, but their link is broken. To fix it, just take the dev2- out of the url and it will take you to the DL list. (I think it is only available for subscribers, though)

There is a direct link to the download server list

its a shame they limit the pc thanks to xbox but they will both still be great.
id still rather play on pc, fuck trying to aim arrows etc with a gamepad, oh how precise that will be.
lol.

I hate to sound so mean all the time but what do you mean "limit the pc thanks to xbox"? If you read the reviews and stuff you'd notice that there are some slowdowns even on the very highest-end preformance PC's.
The xbox 360 does have AA, AF i dont know, its a shame if not.
If you mean like, 100m grass draw distance not being possible to set ingame for when you have quad nvidia 7900, then i understand your point. But that wouldnt be so hard to mod in anyway Smile Just a graphical setting, might even just be in a .ini file Smile

Actually i was thinking about the same thing with the aiming since i never really played any FPS yet on the 360, but after sitting down with the CoD2 demo for an hour im relieved, feels just as natural as it felt back in the good old days with Goldeneye, the best multiplayer-FPS ever created Very Happy

I agree. If anyone is a veteran Xbox fps player then aiming with the 360 controller should not be an issue at all really. Yes it wont be as easy as using the mouse but I dont think it wont be so different that it would be a problem.

Just a warning to those that haven't read it yet: While well written, the author is an idiot in that he pretty much gives away the entire main quest line. Kinda wish I didn't read it now. Ah well, it helped pass a few minutes heh.

hmm I dont think he did, he just told the basic story of 3 or 4 side quests.

(although he did explain what oblivion was like..)

I belive the 360 and PC look similar now. Give it a few months and there will be hundreds of PC mods for this game that will make 360 horrid, not to mention the ability to change almost anything in the game.

Here's my one complaint for Oblivion. They make it too easy. For example, there is an eye icon to tell you if you've been spotted or not. What happened to AI telling you if you were spotted or not? It makes sense because they want to appeal to a larger crowd ie console gamers. I love console games because i like the ease of sitting down and relaxing while playing games. However, I will always be a PC fanboy because most of the time these games are more marketed towards hardcore gamers. An example would be Raven Shield. Compare Raven Shield to the Xbox version. You can take more hits and stuff like that. Completely understandable but I think this is what he meant by "xbox limiting PC". Hopefully Ubisoft will take the high road and make the PC version of ghost recon more hardcore like its previous PC counterparts.

All in all, Oblivion will be great and I'm going to attempt to play it how i want. I will get both pc and x360 version. I'll play the PC version with my archer and get into the game. Then ill relax on my 360 with a different character.

I trust Bethesda will make both games equally good (even though PC gamers are different from console gamers) but im still turned off by Deus Ex 2. It was a bad game anyway, but the way they designed it for console made the PC version even worse.

Does an arrow headshot do more damage? I know it isn't an instant kill because it will deplete from the RPG element (stats, levels, skills, and such).

PS When i make a distiction between console and PC gamers, I'm making the distinction that we get into a different mind-set when we play. I know a lot of us play both console and PC like me!

I read an arrow headshot on an unsuspecting target does triple damage and will usually kill them.

Nevermind. Getting a headshot on an unaware enemy does triple damage. So what if you get a headshot and the enemy is aware of your presence? I guess we'll never know. EVER. Unless Oblivion is released sometime in March. Sometime around March 20th.

Quickstar, I think the good in this title will FAR outweight the bad, and we all know there is no perfect game, although this may come close (relax just having fun, I know it isn't even out yet).

I don't think those concerns will ruin the game for you, you'll be having so much fun you don't even notice. Smile

A headshot will do triple damage if the target is unaware of your presence. Otherwise, I think the damage would be the same as hitting them anywhere else. So for a stealth character, headshots are definitely preferred.. otherwise there would be no benefit to being sneaky Smile

Just to clarify on the "headshot damage issue":

There is NO LOCATIONAL DAMAGE in Oblivion.

If the target is Unaware, you get 3X the damage, no matter if you hit them in the head, the arm, or their big toe.
If the target is Aware, your damage bonus depends on your particular skill with that weapon, again, no matter if you hit them in the head, the arm, or their big toe.

How's that for another example of consoles limiting PC games? Very Happy

Bah...all these sh**y releases are taunting us....seems like everything is coming out BUT Oblivion. This is starting to have detrimental health effects Very Happy

Gamestop seems to have taken the PC Collector's Edition off of their site completley, as my order history now links to a 404 page. They better make fuckin good on that order, as I placed it 4 days ago from an active link, or there will be hell to pay...

Funny reading the official forums however. You think we're bad with the enthusiasm?
Those poor motherfuckers are downright BLIND with fanboyism.
Every single criticism someone throws out, however slight or major, is met with a "I don't care, it will still be the most uber thing ever" response. Methinks alot of these people will be at least a little dissapointed.

Yea it'll be good...but some of the folks seem to have built up such ungodly and undeliverable expectations. Also noticed that alot of them are console gamers and many have never played the original MW. Nothing wrong with that, except that they have absolutley no basis for comparison or of what type of play to expect. After all, consoles aren't exactly renowned for their RPG value.

yeah, I pre-ordered in-store a couple weeks ago.. if they don't have my copy when I go to pick it up on the 21st, heads will roll Laughing

yeah, they're in a frenzy over there. I can see things wrong with the graphics, but I still don't care. I'd be happy with a bigger, prettier Morrowind with more interesting npcs.. and at the very least that is what Oblivion will be. It would be hard for me to be disappointed, I think.
