looks great, where have you bought the "case"?

thinking of doing it too, but also not with a pi4. going for a cheap futro thin client which has much more power and costs the same (already bought one with celeron quad core as tiny home server for 40 euros. the ones with i3 costs less than euros)

company in Spain they are called Talentec, they're on Amazon, ebay, or you can buy on their homepage.

I think i'll try this front end

https://wagnerstechtalk.com/pc-batocera/

its Linux OS

a bit more expensive than i thought. but if the quality is good the price is reasonable

batocera is the way to go nowadays, yes.

right now i do not have the space for such things, but we are looking for a new house/farm and im planning on building a bartop and getting a pinball machine Smile

i went with buttons that lights up.

https://www.amazon.se/dp/B075DBJXR7?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

very good price. the buttons are not good at all though, unless you like buttons with a lot of resistence and clickiness, i want neither. I'll have to swap out parts for sanwa, maybe i can change the switches. The joysticks seems really good though, i could not really tell a difference from the sanwa i just got.

edit: ah, yeah a pinball machine would be ace... might be getting that Legends Pinball one in a few months..its electronic though, with a screen.

that set looks okaish, and it shouldnt be a problem to replace the buttons. most likely cheaper than getting everything separately.

not going for a virtual pinball machine. i want a real one, looking for tales of from the crypt or road show.

T-molding some painting + audio left. Was hoping i would get the t-mold package today but it was delayed. and i guess i will eventually get a stronger light source for the marquee, it's there but it's pretty vague.

overall, fun build. learned a lot about buttons, switches, springs. i managed to improve those light-up buttons a lot (their feel was terrible, made a big "CLONK!" sound + hard to press down)..

next project will probably be to make my own (hand held) controller, very easy thing to do nowadays. need to purchase a 3D printer though!

For me, sure. Arcade games are, for me at least, also about the aesthetics and to be close to the machine and stand by the cabinet and play, preferably 2-player!

I've noticed with music i got far more engaged when i got my hardware modular system vs working in software. it's just a different feel to be close-up and personal, same thing here, i've noticed i'm more engaged + it replicates the arcade hall feeling almost perfectly vs using TV and a hand held controller.
