In that one area?

Seems to be the same most of the time

Edit: 6 minutes to build shader cache here, in latest update

It's the same when it's GPU limited, which is fine. The insane CPU limitation that brought the framerate down sporadically is gone.

Yeah. Same with Jedi. The cpus were hammered and the gpus underutilized. This now seems to be fixed here. When you'll reach gpu limited scenarios, its the same. What was previously borked on the cpu side of things is now fixed. Previously they fixed the textures looking like ass on settings bellow high. They reduced vram requirements by a couple of gigs. They're doing actual, palpable changes with each patch.

Runs pretty well now, no more massive frame drops or stutters. There's no big performance increase at all that I can see (certainly nothing near ~40%, or half that, or even 1/4 of that...), but it's fluid at least. It feels good finally being able to just play it

One thing I have noticed since playing it on PS4 years ago, aiming with a mouse makes the game a hell of a lot easier, swaying or no swaying. They should compensate for this more with console > PC games

That's true about the mouse thing. Once they fixed the jittering I was popping heads like john whick. Before that I thought something was wrong with my aim, I'm not the best but not THAT BAD.

Left behind DLC wasn't too bad.

Was expecting dire things after the TV show episode, but the DLC was a lot better with the current shopping centre stuff going on + the flash backs of the older shopping centre stuff at the same time

I wouldn't say it is a reason to pay again to play it, but if you're Yarring then I would go for it.

It's a decently upgraded experience from the original PS3 version, and if you're like me then enough time will have passed so that you will have forgotten a lot of it anyway Very Happy

Still quite buggy. Particle effects, water splashes etc are often way bigger than they need to be. Some of the splashes look like portals you can step into. Lighting sometimes pops in and out (complete scenes that are supposed to be dark lose all shadow). Ellie has gotten stuck a few times.

Frame rate still gets cut in half in certain areas (Capitol building area, for one). 165FPS down to ~60. Not sure how that converts on lower end machines, but god damn.

Anyway, too invested to stop now Very Happy

I've been playing this on and off for about a week (right now in the woods after the capitol section), installed the cracled release + updates up to 1.0.3.0 and it's been flawless for me so far, nearly every setting maxed out, using FSR2 (as it looks better for me than the included DLSS). FPS stay between 60 and 100 and I've never seen them dip below 60 so far.

This is on my RTX 3060 Ti @1080p.

I have to say the game looks gorgeous and I find that there's so much attention to detail.

Gameplay on the other hand is competent but nothing special and the story so far has been pretty conventional, I guess it gets much better later on so it can justify all the acclaim.

many issues remain - particularly in terms of stutter, CPU and GPU utilisation. However, the good news is that at least the texture management problems have been comprehensively resolved - and a highly respectable experience is now possible for PC users with 8GB graphics cards.

Seems to match my experience so far except for the stuttering which I haven't noticed. But yeah, CPU usage and temps are crazy and like nothing I've seen before in any game I've played with my current rig.

There's a full article with that video

https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2023-the-last-of-us-part-1-is-much-improved-on-pc-but-big-issues-remain-unaddressed

Ultimately though, The Last of Us Part 1 on PC is in a better state than it was at launch. Texture quality is much improved, a good experience is possible on 8GB GPUs and the game runs a little better overall. However, many issues remain and new ones have been added. If Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy can further mitigate background streaming CPU limitations, further increase GPU performance, and totally eliminate shader compilation stutter, the port would be in a good position. But right now at least, I still think it needs a good deal more work.

Edit: So many fucking bugs, I can't imagine anyone getting through it without seeing some of this very obvious shit

The school is the next performance draining area. Sheds 120 FPS and stutters like a mother.

Crashed twice today as well

Stopped counting the crashes, and the camera keeps wigging out forcing restarts

Alt+tabbing also freezes it maybe 50% of the time it's used

Game is definitely fixed guys

In the first few versions it was crashing so much that i couldnt even complete the compilation process. Then in the prologue. After i made an extra 20 gig pagefile on another drive it stoped crashing completely
