Rather enjoying this. It's like The Sinking City, but better. Investigations & side quests are fun, and I didn't want to remove combat completely, but on easy it makes it bearable (as was in Sinking City ).
Performance is a ass though, despite the average graphics.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
That's pretty cringe. I love the idiots in the comments trying to justify this.
'tell me this is a joke? This isn't to be used to potentially KILL and MAIM people?'
'No, this is to be used to aid Ukrainian soldiers to protect people from being killed and their homes shelled by the russian army which has invaded their country.'
Yeah, by maiming and killing, dipshit, that's what weapons of war do.
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

I remember seeing a meme image of Kevin Sorbo write "Stop sending money to Ukraine" and in the twitter comments someone posted something similar. He/she paid to write "Kevin Sorbo says so" on ammunition and the picture was sent by Ukrainian soldiers from the battlefield. I think this is getting more and more common now.
Trying to merge the Sinking City with #sherlockbro sounds like a horror choice alright
The result could work though if they somehow manage to keep The Awakened's original atmosphere intact without annoying modernizations and add interesting gameplay mechanics that aren't submerged by questionable waves of jank. A tough case for Sherlock.
Ok, from 5 minutes of research it seems it would be a waste to play this without episode one first. I'll play that first. I kept away since it's open world, but i'll give it a shot regardless
So it is a direct sequel to episode one? That one was neither dark or Lovecraftian, it was all about his mother and brother.
Seems like a big yes and no. Story itself is a remaster of the old one. The case that is. But character wise it's a sequel and continues off after episode one.
After what happened to Sinking City and after them promoting their Kickstarter campaign for this by signed off bombs, I'll pass on the work of this studio. Nothing of great value will be lost anyway.
There is something not quite right with these games. I might be stupid, but i'm fairly sure that's not it this time. The casebook is just one convoluted mess to be quite frank. And you don't know the first thing about how to handle some situation. Do you talk to people and have Joe berate your every single person who tells you to fuck off? Do you go somewhere? Do you inspect with the wobbly bubble thing by selecting a special case document? Not always easy to know, and it's damn frustrating and makes you waste pointless time.
It tries to be very clever when Sherlock is having Sherlock moments, but contextually you know too little and both options are quite viable which makes them a gamble.
It's not a bad game at all, just this case stuff needs to be cleaned up and better organized.
The problem with these new titles is that multiple ideas are mashed together in a rather incohesive way and the general cheap-ish direction sadly creates a final result that's more mundane than it should be. The Awakened remakeboo is more appealing than Chapter One thanks to the pseudo-supernatural elements, though from what I've played it's fundamentally the same (flawed) formula with a different coat of paint.
Their best modern Sherlock Holmes game in my opinion still remains Crimes and Punishments - it wasn't by any means perfect but it had the strongest art direction along with genuinely atmospheric cases and the right mix of old-school mechanics and modern ones. Very focused, yet rewarding since it encouraged logical thinking instead of the current cluttered trial 'n error loop. And it had the properly seasoned Sherlock, none of this emo wimpiness
