Haha yeah, the game really is quite amazing. We see the "2D Dark Souls" being thrown around a lot these days, but here it has a precise meaning, and it's 100% correct as the devs managed to perfectly translate such classic formula without dumbing it down (on the contrary). It was damn hard, but they pulled it off..despite the ninja-turtle-like faces which I will always find odd to explain.
Al kidding aside, it's one of my favourite games of the year. When the derpAAA lets you down, indie gaming comes to the rescue!

Should I buy this if I like Dark Souls style, but I'm not into sidescrolling combat?

Instead of directly buying, why not try the isodemo first?

You can refund into your account as long as it was the payment method. Thanks for the answer, I think I'll give it a try.

I finished it. It's not as fair as Dark Souls, the design of some boss encounters is beyond annoying and I felt like luck played a role. Still good and I would like to see more game like this one maybe with a little less Metroidvania in them. Hopefully Death's Gambit will deliver.

Yup. Especially if you play as a melee character It's easier for mages. My mage roflstopmed most bosses. But it was pretty hard in the beginning though
+ it seems there are some balancing issues in regard to melee weapons. Daggers are considered underpowered.

I still dream of creating my own 2D top/down Zelda-like Dark Souls... One day! ONE DAY!

| Quote: | Hello again!
We have been hard at work preparing a new patch for you. Patch 1.0.0.9 is coming soon. Bugs are getting squashed and quality of life features are being added, including cloud saves!
As a precaution and for testing, the patch will be released as an opt-in beta sometime in late August. When we are confident that the patch is what was intended, it will go live to all of Steam.
We will also be preserving the previous patch as it has lasted a while, and many may want to preserve former ‘features’. Through the same process as Steam opt-in betas, you will be allowed to down-patch to 1.0.0.8. Specific core patches in the future may also be preserved this way. Any old patches will be as they were, so they will lack any new features and fixes. |
