No players on a private server (at least for TBC). It's supposed to be an MMO. The RPG aspect kinda always sucked. So, yeah, if you want the MMO aspect of the game, you have to pony up the cash.

Naturally. They understand perfectly that DF was the beginning of the end of any working social community within WoW. people queued up and did their own stuff solo without communicating with anyone, and the social ineptitude grew and there was a giant rise in toxic behavior, which is still quite problematic. Some love sitting around insulting people all day like the sewer trash that they are, but others would prefer a community where you can actually play and remember the people you've played with before. Had many group friends in old wow, but all that went to shit
