damn i didnt know you can retract your bid in ebay, was it always like that?
anyway, this function should definitely be removed, it can do more harm than good.

There are limits such as within 12 hours or something.
I'm pretty sure that if you 'up' the auction then remove bids then it goes for the first price again.. but I suppose that can be countered by a person having 2 accounts. When something starts he bids something over the top on both accounts... 1 min b4 the end he cancels 1 of the bids on an account and voila got it for 99p... but again thats where reserve prices fall into play.
It's a lose lose situation when people try to deceive like that anyway, but a bid retraction isn't the flaw since I did enter the wrong bid once on an item and about 3 mins before the end I realised my mistake and nearly had a heart attack.
