|
 |
just switched to a digital cable, instead of using those 3x 3.5mm cables for my speakers and i noticed that after a quiet scene or if i mute the volume, it will take a few seconds until the sound will play again, it's not back instantly like it was before.
a friend of mine has the same problem for years with a soundblaster card and was never able to fix it. i got a realtek onboard card. just found a workaround where i had to edit some powersaving features for the driver in the registry and this seems to work, until i restart, then it's back to where it was before.
anyone in here noticed the same problem and was able to fix it? otherwise i will go back to 3.5mm

Nope, do those registry settings return to default after a restart?
Then just run an auto script after restart.

not all of them.
"ConservationIdleTime" and "PerformanceIdleTime" will go back to default settings, "IdlePowerState" will save even after a restart.
audio is not cutting out anymore when i pause something or when there is a quiet scene in a movie, but when i mute windows 10, it's still happening. guess i can live with this, still it sucks, always thought it's a bug with soundblaster card, but now it's also happening with my realtek onboard, so i don't know.
maybe its happening because of my speakers, cause i noticed, when i press the mute button in windows, the LED's will also turn off on the control box on my desk and then return, after i unmute but with a short delay, this never happened with the 3.5mm jacks.
still the cut out in quiet movie scenes, or when i pause music for like 5 seconds, was because of the driver for sure, cause that is gone now.
thank you for your help

Well with analogue cables there is always noise, not with digital cables.
So PC -> digital cable -> control box -> speakers?
In case above is true, does the control box has an option to turn off sleep mode or power save mode?

yes that is the reason i got this cable in the first place and because it's way longer, then the old cable, so i can move the subwoofer somewhere else.
pc > digital cable > subwoofer
speakers are connected to the subwoofer, same for the control box.
sadly i don't think there is an option to turn off this standby mode on the control box / speakers, so the best option would be, if windows or the driver, doesn't send the "mute input" via the digital cable to the subwoofer/control box in the first place, so it doesn't go into standy after muting the volume in windows, like it was with the 3.5mm jacks before.
but well, the worst part, cutting out while pause something or in a quiet movie scene is gone, after editing the registry entries for the driver. so it's better then nothing.

Create a registry file that you schedule to automatically run at startup with admin (or system/trusted installer) privileges?
