Mind Is Full Of Fuck
This is the reason why jokes and reality have become indistinguishable..unfuckingbelievable.. Crying or Very sad Laughing

I'm a huge retro gamer but the reviewer HAS a point even though he's being a cunt about it.

Basically, Another World is a "trial and error" game where you die over and over until you figure out what you have to do. It's unforgiving and its controls ARE pretty stiff and shit - the game won't respond immediately bit you have to wait for the correct break in the animation. Even back in 1994 when Another World (or Out of THis World as the US version was called) was re-released as a budget game, the game got pretty poor reviews for exactly these reasons - scores like 65-70% - so why should we rate it any higher 20 years later?

At the time it was popular because it looked amazing and had great atmosphere but the controls and trial & error gameplay DO make the game frustrating to play.

I get what you're saying, and I agree that the game isn't "perfect", but both his whole know-nothing know-it-all attitude and the conclusion "I honestly couldn't fathom recommending Another World to anyone" put an end to all his credibility, regardless of the different taste (or poor skills, that he most certainly has).

I replayed the 20th anniversary version when it was released some time ago, and had (almost) as much fun as the first time. No wonder why I despise those so-called "today's standards" that are praised so much and used as comparison criteria, with the hand-holding everywhere, and press-X-to-everything games. Guess I have a different conception of fun (and honestly am happy about it Razz)

Yeah, love this game, and how much was achieved at the hardware of back then. It's amazing how much optimization went back in games, every CPU tick was maximized in usage, whereas it feels today that developers just vomit unoptimized shit code.
