Eternals 7/10.
Better than most MCU movies. Campy but decent. -3 points for lazy VFX work at times. I see why people didn't like it. I see why some MCU hardcore fans hated it. I also see why many people enjoyed it. It's just not an MCU movie. I hope they make more non-MCU MCU movies.

Ghostbusters - Afterlife. I can appreciate that it didn't seem to involve politics / agendas but i can't give it a good score because of that. It's generic crap with no compelling characters or story, it also just seems like really sloppy writing, ghosts everywhere (some gigantic) yet no one believe they exist? ok. that ancient statue they find that looks like some (poorly made) anime character.. nah, they don't even understand how to set up atmosphere.

It's a little Goonies mixed with some Scooby Doo, just not as intelligent or atmospheric.

5/10. not even 124" and good audio could save this one.

The King's Man - 7/10

Enjoyable, for me better than second part because it was more grounded. Dunno why people don't like the son plot. I didn't like how they explained the character motivation change. Overall IMO better than average pop corn flick.

Eternals - 6/10

It did pick up after the first boring 40 minutes or so. In the end it's an average superhero movie that didn't raise my pulse but was enjoyable enough that I don't regret spending the time watching it.

The Eternals - 6/10

While I appreciate the effort to do something *kinda* different, I DESPISE the CGI cannon fodder (deviants, chitauri et al) embedded into any MCU flick. Stop it already! No tension whatsoever.

+1 for the photography, those last scenes with the celestial emerged from the ocean were a sight to behold.

Eternals 6/10 one of the weaker Marvel movies, though watcheable and it adds a bit to the „lore“.

Highlight was the transition from the opening act to the first part with Floyds Time. Love that song.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Saint Maud - 6-6.5/10

It was ok, above average but it was once again one of those british horrors that you only get glimpses of the characters past/motivation and are left with conjectures of what happened. The full backstory isn't necessary with this particular movie but it's a trend.

If you liked Censor you will probably like this. And I think this one was better in every aspect.

Benedetta - better than French porn/10

An intentionally bizarre mix of nonsense, solid acting, erotic scenes and violence, with bipolar Jizzus being the co-protagonist of the story. You can tell it's Verhoeven by how the movie merges dramatic events with a style that comes across as rather parody-esque. Then again, it's a given with the religious world and its crew of professional con artists surrounded by gullible pears.

Total Recall - 8/10

After so much time since my first viewing, I felt the need to check the state of my member berries. The answer was a positive one: they definitely are still edible, with the thriller-ish dystopian mystery that has nearly perfect pacing, all spiced up with iconic scenes and unique characters giving it a timeless atmosphere - even today, 30+ years after its release. One of my favourite Verhoeven movies and certainly one of Arnie's best. The good ol' practical effects are part of the ride as well with their homemade charm, and so is the typical cheese. Baby, you make me wish I had three hands!

Spoderman: Far from home - Enjoyable, a little bit lost and even though it was super long, it wasn't long enough to give everyone the stage they deserve. Ambitious and IMHO successful: 8/10

Scream (5): It was a stupid and enjoyable scream movie. This one also tried to apply the memberberries but it was a bit lackluster and actually quite obvious what was going on. 6.5/10, it had a few gruesome kills and some funny bits. Could've been a lot less meta though.

Yeah, I watched both and they serve as nice companion pieces to each other mainly due to the ending even though thematically they deal with different aspects. Both Saint Maud and Censor are worth one viewing at least.

Check out the original 1948 film, it is so much better than this one. Honestly, this new film isn't able to justify it's existence in any way.

Nah. It can stand on it's own. The original has clearer plot but much more foreshortening and less character building than Del Toro's. The new one is more "evil" and with grey morality while the 1947 one was moral and rightous if I can compare it this way. And well you can enjoy some fine acting in 2021 one.

The original can stand on its own as well and for the era was pretty bleak and forward looking. The fact that it's still watchable 70+ years later is a testament to the filmmakers. The acting was great in the older film, not sure what was specially amazing here other than better production values. The story is worse for the grey morality tweak and it's clear the varying reception the film has gotten is only because of Del Toro. It's a watered down modern noir film.

It's still coming last of the three shows for me. The uneven pacing, the monologues etc. dragged it down. The last few episodes vastly improved the show and the irony and hypocrisy of religion was brilliant. Samantha Sloyan as the rabid nut Bev Keane was brilliant. My opinion may be influenced by how I feel towards religion in general (leaving a bad taste in my "mouth") which this show had a LOT of even though it was showing religion in a very very critical way which was really the underlying theme from start to end.

Hill House is still the best of the three IMHO. Bly Manor started slow but the payoff when the events in the first four episodes began to connect it all made sense and the last three episodes had a massive impact (again, IMHO).

30 Days of Night: Dark Days - 2/10

I couldn't finish it.. I suffered through ~45 minutes of it and finally had enough. When I randomly stumbled on the existence of several sequels and a prequel (movie and shows) I got very interested since I really enjoyed the original movie. Let's just say that I won't be touching anything from this franchise from now on.
