Have you seen how much those top 100 are streaming? I admit I can never do any of what they are doing. Sometimes 24 hours streams with no sleep or even barely standing up from the PC. There have been even couple of 48 even 72 hours.... Almost all of them stream at least 6 days a week for 8-10 hours, talking non-stop and barely taking any breaks. Sure, there are harder jobs like mining or working with chemicals but streaming seems very exhausting too. They are doing good money but not as easy as it may sound at first. Tho I guess small streamers with some average 100 viewers can still make some decent $$$.

Yeah, if you're just aiming for basically surviving on the income then you don't have to work like that... if you want to become a millionaire then basically anything is hard, which is kind of obvious or everyone would be a millionaire.

So if you drive a quick car you can not ask for stricter climate control and if you make a lot of money you can not aknowledge that rich people pay too little taxes?

Also: oh noes:
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2021-10-06-twitch-leak-reveals-streamer-earnings-and-lack-of-diversity
Quote: | What's more, the leak reveals a distinct lack of diversity in those top earning streamers.
Men dominate the list. In fact, of the top 20, all are men. Pokimane, at 39th on this particular list, is the highest earning woman on the platform.
The majority of those streamers are also white and don't (publicly) identify as part of the LGBT+ community. |
EDIT: Holy shit, they wrote two articles whining about "muh diversity":
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2021-10-07-twitch-confirms-data-exposed-in-major-leak
After getting reamed in the comments for yesterday's article they repeat the same shit the day after

the twitch email made me giggle, totally downplaying the leak as if nothing happened, not even asking people to change passwords ... so basicly its total fearmongering, they will be sued into oblivions if they dont disclose the passwords were compromized
"Hi xxxxxxx
Out of an abundance of caution, we have reset all stream keys. You can get your new stream key here.
Depending on which broadcast software you use, you may need to manually update your software with this new key to start your next stream:
Twitch Studio, Streamlabs, Xbox, PlayStation and Twitch Mobile App users should not need to take any action for your new key to work.
OBS users who have connected their Twitch account should also not need to take any action. OBS users that have not connected their Twitch account to OBS will need to manually copy their stream key from their Twitch Dashboard and paste it into OBS.
For all others, please refer to specific setup instructions for your software of choice.
Thank you,
Twitch Staff"
Out of an abundance of caution pr people are the new nazis of this generation roflol
Now what im really looking forward is some of this streamers getting fucked by the IRS , im sure a large percentage of those idiots didnt do the best of jobs filing their earnings

Checked the list, only know, and even barely, Critical. Most of the revenue is from ads, I guess. The more viewers, the bigger the payout.
Nothing unexpected here. Shoving neo-capitalistic ads, promoting retarded P2P games and safe-speech all around is a lucrative endeavour.
Don't bite the hand of the masters that feed you, and you'll get rewarded, nothing new here.
I'll eat the hat I never wore but buy for the occasion (I'll make it pretty extravagant too), if anyone can prove to me that any ad on twitch encourages anyone to buy books where someone, anyone, could actually get any actionable knowledge from, or incentivise youths to do so.
People, as I'm doing, are comparing the next generation to theirs, and are entertaining pretty dire scenarios. "As always"... Maybe, but never before was such a bump, leap, in population levels, and np technology growth that has been witnessed before in Human history.
The game has changed, and there's a whole new set of rules.

@PickupArtist
They do, where does the millions in pay come from for the athletes? A magic pot of gold? Literally everything they do for sports is donating to watch them same as this.
Buy tickets? Thats paying to watch them, seasons tickets more so. Spend a LOT of money and you can sit close enough to maybe get to touch your palm to one of their palms as they go into the locker room!
Sports fans spend WAY more on random 'merch' than stream watchers do.
There is entire stores and an industry dedicated to buying fandom merch for specific sports players and teams in general. People will pay $1000's of dollars for a soccer ball because someone's specific foot touched it, before it went thru some random poles with a net on it right before some arbitrary set time limit ran out.
I find it just as confusing to me, to give money to watch someone play games with some sort of ball of one type or another, as it is to give money to watch people play games on a screen.
I feel any sports fan who has ever bought any sports merch and watch those people on a screen play a game of 'move the ball to a specific spot to score points' causing them to earn millions for doing so, has no room to mock people that buy merch and watch people play stuff on a screen of 'score X points on a game GUI' causing them to earn millions for doing so.

You're from the US, but I dare you to put one fuß in a popular/for masses mall and fail to stumble every two steps on made-for-kids soccer apparels.
Needless to say, for every German kid/kids with parents willing to integrate, you'll find them buying *insert local soccer team here*'s ware.
Spoiler: | |
Check those prices. Those are made to fit a small child, and made in China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, you name it, by, well, other kids, and for a dime.
KA-FUCKING-CHING, BABY!
Soccer/sports fandom is cancAIDS.

Soccer/sports fandom is cancAIDS. | Yep, the durrs here blowing 40-50€ on a some football sweater and then crying that they can barely live with their salaries is a classic. Oh, and bonus points if the sir/madam also goes out for dinner/lunch at least 2-3 times a week
