This build build build build construction scheme has to stop at some point, why not now? Eventually we'll have to build living quarters in space and shoot people into them at this rate. I grew up in a town surrounded by mountainous scenery in all directions, a lot of green spaces but now you can't see shit but high buildings and construction everywhere leading to lower happiness and living standards. So many forests we'd hide in and be naughty as kids are now buildings, roads and construction zones. It doesn't seem to stop or say "hey maybe that's enough for this area".
The Malthusian trap is very very very real and it's only getting in our face by the day.

But it's my freedom / right to have as many kids and consume as much shit as possible.
If we notice the obvious difference in people who have 1 or two kids or none vs people with a full sports team's worth of kids, it's often education. I'm not getting my hopes up but only way to keep human growth as linear as food production is to have a maximum of 2 children to replace both parents and mass funding towards educating the poor about these matters. but this also could fuck up the male to female ratio like it did in chinah but not as badly as its 1 child policy. Plagues used to be our apex predator that regulate our bullshit but now we have 85yo tyrants in power that still don't want to accept death as a fact of life over what to most is little more than a flu. Sacrifices are inevitable, the sun will eat the earth and we're all fucking then.
Well, it is weird from almost every perspective, historically etc. I can understand muslims, arabs way more than i can understand most progressive Swedes... i've had many immigrant friends over the years, none is left unfortunately because they've moved and some has been sent back (too productive, successful = you'll be sent back), one was a real troublemaker though and he got abolished from the city lol, unheard of since the middle ages.
They promised to pay back some loan interest now, worth $35 million. But I think they still got around $600 million to pay off before the end of the year.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
That's china.
Let's try building a full city block at the time and fail. No matter, they can try again.
It is such a waste of materials and money. Why couldn't a state take it over or something.
And here I am with fucking paper mcdonalds shake straw...

What is your definition of being progressive?
Here's the definition I know:
various sources, mostly wiki wrote:
Contemporary progressives promote public policies that they believe will lead to positive social change. In the 21st century, a movement that identifies as progressive is "a social or political movement that aims to represent the interests of ordinary people through political change and the support of government actions".
Immanuel Kant identified progress as being a movement away from barbarism towards civilization. 18th-century philosopher and political scientist Marquis de Condorcet predicted that political progress would involve the disappearance of slavery, the rise of literacy, the lessening of sex inequality, prison reforms which at the time were harsh and the decline of poverty.
While the term progressivism represent a range of diverse political pressure groups, not always united, progressives rejected social Darwinism, believing that the problems society faced such as class warfare, greed, poverty, racism and violence could best be addressed by providing good education, a safe environment and an efficient workplace.
In the 21st century, progressives continue to favour public policy that reduces or ameliorates the harmful effects of economic inequality as well as systemic discrimination such as institutional racism; to advocate for environmentally conscious policies as well as for social safety nets and workers' rights; and to oppose the negative externalities inflicted on the environment and society by monopolies or corporate influence on the democratic process.
Proponents of social democracy have identified themselves as promoting the progressive cause.
I fail to see any negatives in those definitions.
Progressivism wasn't always positive though:
Quote:
The meaning of progressivism has varied over time and differs depending on perspective. Early-20th century progressivism was tied to eugenics and the temperance movement, both of which were promoted in the name of public health and as initiatives toward that goal.
Quote:
The eugenics movement gained widespread purchase across the world, including in Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, China, Singapore, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Besides, being progressive doesn't mean one particular way of thinking, there are different forms and combinations, like Progressive Conservatism etc... One common factor is the opposition against neoliberalism which, being an evolved form of liberalism inspired by Ayn Rands Objectivism, results in greater inequality and social injustice.
So please expand on what you mean when you say you can't understand "most progressive Swedes". I'm not posting this with any malice, I really want to know your thoughts and/or reasons since the word "progressive" has become a bit fuzzy the last 10 years.
US stocks fall on fears of contagion from China real estate
Stocks slumped on Wall Street Monday in a broad sell-off that extends an already weak streak for major indexes.
ck market news live updates: Wall St. sinks amid China's Evergrande contagion fears, US debt politics
My personal favorite:
Quote:
The empirical results show that the co-movement between real estate and stock prices is weak in the short run, except during the financial crisis period.
Since the stock market is highly volatile, while real estate prices are relatively stable, the two markets are less correlated in the short run. The results also show that real estate prices affect stock prices in the long run, which supports the existence of a credit-price effect in China.
Real estate prices remained very high in most time periods.
Feelling like late 07/early 08 yet?
If all main indicators are going down the drain and they sell you on a bull market? They are ACTIVELY dumping shit on your lap, and expect you to buy it, like the sucker you are
As his opening statement said: "Damned if they do, damned if they don't". Saving face internaly with a potential economical shitwave vs. owning up to their BS but looking like the shit-talking, two-faced dopes they are.
I say "Bring it on". This will bring the downfall of Western/the world at large's reliance on Bountiful China better than a war that might be way more costly in all respects, and that would just end up proving the same point, if not end up the world as-is.
For a time sure, i've never heard people regretting having children, even if they have many.

Banished, you mean? With what, prison if he got back within it's limit?
Yeah, i meant banished. The last straw was when he cut up all the tires (well, one tire on each car) outside the immigration place.. he was angry at some person there and wanted revenge so he made sure at least one of the cars was hers (i think it was a she). They moved him so far away from this city that it at least would be expensive or just cumbersome to travel to here again..
@Frant yeah i know, i meant it like typical leftist progressive that we have many of here, meaning for example very pro mass immigration.. none of the immigrants i've talked to understands it, how we think it could even work and so forth. The African fellow (real troublemaker, mentioned above) was especially negative because he was also a christian, probably the most racist person i've ever talked to lol (both when it comes to swedes and muslims and especially somalis).
...but he's hardly related to Evergrand, stock/bond-market, lending/banking sector, nor will every born-loser like him ever be, wouldn't they?
Please let's stay on topic, this is too big to be drowned in personal experiences, I think.
Up to anyone to have some thoroughness when the economical future of our societies is at play, since some local Swedish retard will be the least of our concerns.
It looks way more healthy. The thing is that US is full in debt on all levels. So having banks using reverse repo is indicator they dont trust market anymore to invest their holdings. Feels a big 2008 is nearing honestly
i think in 2008 the banks maybe had the lets just do nothing n see what happens stategy ? or all their money was tied up in this mortgages shit and they didnt have spare cash unlike now with all the printed covid money
