Battlefield 4 (bf4.exe): dx10 SLI compatibility bits

I told you Breezer that partnering with AMD wouldn't mean nvidia wouldn't have access to the game Wink

edit the bits are different than the BF3 ones. Interesting, it could point to bigger engine changes than once thought.

Holy fucking shit 331.40 are the first drivers since fucking March that don't crash my system.

Apologies for not updating the thread in a while but I stopped updating drivers until I would read my issue had been fixed in a new batch (and it finally has).

Now to see what new profiles I can find..

edit: I cleaned up the OP. I think it's up to date now. edit: Nope it's not. I will post again later.

Did your problem consist of complete freezes in Windows and constant crashes in quite a few games by any chance?

Yes. I mean sort of. Freezes in Windows and browsing.

I didn't manage to test any games to know if they would crash because before I would get the chance to play (I usually play in the afternoon/night) my PC would have already crashed during the day and I would have already gone back to the last working driver set; 314.22

Thankfully they fixed that. But it took them 6 months Rage Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad

I kept getting freezes in windows only for a second and never did before installing the drivers but it might not be nvidia

Hmm, might try the new ones then, not right now though. I've been having the problem I described for quite a while, until I realized it was Nvidia fucking up and not fixing their fuck-ups, while releasing so many versions. I ended up reinstalling my Windows as well, hehe. Wasn't that bad since it was long overdue though. I've been on 312.22 for a while now and it seems to be the newest one that's stable for me so far.

Interestingly AMD's 13.10b2 drivers now also contain a profile for Arkham Origins but it's called BmGame.exe

AMD has a similar issue although it's related to image corruption, for a while now it's improved but it's still there unless Direct2D is disabled along with well I forgot the exact name in Firefox.
(Azure?)

Apparently AMD blames it on Firefox and they in turn blame AMD so it's taken like what, over a year or so and the issue is still present.

Thankfully I only see it on the tab windows and only when switching from one tabbed window to the others rapidly so it's not too bad but it really should be fixed properly.

Maybe it's time to switch to another browser though FF works pretty well for now, mostly due to the extensions and high customization ability.

On the plus side I realized my PC is a lot quieter during browsing with GPU acceleration disabled so I might keep it like that even if it's fixed.

I guess my GPU fan is louder than my CPU fan Very Happy

Disable Flash hardware acceleration?

It doesn't happen (only) in Flash pages. It happens everywhere.

I used to have nVidia GTX 460 before my current 660, and the only way to make Firefox stop crashing was to disable hardware acceleration in both Firefox' and Flash Player's settings.

OK, it wasn't the only way. The second way was to use half-a-year old drivers. Very Happy Apparently, latest (or moderately up-to-date) drivers plus hardware acceleration enabled is not a stable mix for this browser.

EDIT: I'm not sure Firefox crashes are driver related if you disabled GPU acceleration for both Flash and browser. Scratch Head What is there left for GPU to do then?

EDIT2: I see now you're also getting freezes in Windows.

Better run this:

to make sure it's not RAM related!

You guys thank you for your interest but things are really simple and there is no issue to solve right now (since I use the GPU acceleration workaround).

1) Up to 314.22 <- everything is perfect
2) The next 3-4 drivers after that (including betas) <- crashes/freezes in Windows and Firefox very frequently
3) I read online it's a widespread problem. I stay on the 314.22 and stop updating until I read it has been fixed. Let me reiterate that 314.22 are perfect, no issues what so ever. So it's not a HW problem.
4) 331.40 are released. Hoping they fixed the issue I install them. They take hours to crash, but they do crash while browising with Firefox eventually.
5) I read online that you can set GPU acceleration in Firefox to off and the crashes go away until nvidia fixes it. I try it and my PC is 100% stable for days.

So to sum up.
a) not a HW problem
b) previous faulty drivers crashed my machine under Windows as well, and very frequently
c) these ones crash only under Firefox and only if GPU acceleration is enabled (the default)
d) flash has nothing to do with the crashes as far as I can tell. The crashes weren't on flash pages and I didn't disable acceleration in flash but my issue went away.

Thank you for reading. Smile

AMD has a basic profile for GTA5.exe, and some other upcoming games. (Watch Dogs has a demo?)
(From the 13.10 beta drivers, the full listing would be - http://www.kn00tcn.net/site/ati-catalyst-profiles/ Though I only check the driver profiles and not the app profiles.)

Gravedigging this thread because I initially posted in a the wrong section so now I don't want to make new topic and this one seems appropriate enough.

Hope there will be God of War and Demon's Souls on PC soon "at least".
