Congrats to the Curve Digital for great hyping campaign for an ok game at best.

It would not surprise me if a lot of the sales were from people hoping this might hit that Cyberpunk feel that Cyberpunk 2077 failed to in its current state. You have to wonder how they calculate the numbers for those that play it via Gamespass as well if they included whatever MS paid them as part of the sales numbers.
It's 'successful' because it doesn't suck and it brings something "NEW" to the table: and that is a cool looking cyberpunk world. It's not a revolutionary game. It follows safe rules, doesn't innovate in any way and is build on familiar, already working patterns.
It's another game that is "good" because it doesn't suck like 90% of the crap the industry produces today.
Here's how to unlock the free camera in #TheAscent
The tool I use is called the Universal Unreal Engine 4 Unlocker. You download it, open up the programme while The Ascent is running, and then you use the console window and type in commands to trigger different effects.
One of these is a free camera. So if you were wondering how to zoom out the camera in The Ascent, you can do it with the Universal Unreal Engine 4 Unlocker.
Well the scope is different. Graphics direction in The Ascent is great but the scope is different and after the hype wanes the game is really simplistic and limited.
Also Cyberpunk - well - had to be made with graphics from the pnp books in mind. And they were made mostly in the 80s/90s.

I liked it enough to finish it. I skipped basically all cutscenes and dialog, which I don't regret at all.
Gun shooting was fun enough for me to power through it, length was also just about right. I think they should have set this up a bit differently, a nice "overworld" and then procedually generated interiors/"dungeons", similar to Diablo. That way they could have had the gorgeous graphics, while the interior sections looked rather boring anyway, so AI-generated maps wouldn't have been worse.
There were quite a number of bugs, mission markers not displaying properly, (the same) tutorial pop-ups until the last mission. Generally it ran fine on my 2060, but somehow towards the end of the game, FPS started to drop for whatever reason and I could not get this fixed (all regions, not only the last one).
Money is super useless in this game. At the beginning you have way to little and need to run instead of taking the (then still expensive) taxi. Later on there is just nothing worth buying and I finished the game with ~700.000 credits left. Weapons don't degrade, upgrades only cost components and there are no imbues or similar.
It's a 7,5/10 game. I'm not asking for another loot-shooter, but having a bit more weapon variety and more interesting dungeons would have gone a long way.
