Back in 2016 when I preordered Mankind Divided from uncle Rajesh. While the game itself delivered for me, the silly microtransactions fiasco along with the very abrupt final act and Square Enix's decision to scrap the franchise only to replace it with Marvel garbage left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth.
Since then, it's always been happy patient bear isodemo time first and then Gabesale purchase later, eventually.

I THINK GTA5 and Cities Skylines is the only 2 I have.
Not sure if released alphas count, I have done a few of them but usually after a friend has been playing it and says I would like it. (minecraft, scum, and factorio for example).

sure why not. if i plan to buy and play a game anyway, why not pre ordering? games on cdkeys for example are mostly cheaper if you pre order them.

Because I was going to buy it either way. Like I said I only did it for two games, but it was two I was 100% sure I was getting, might as well budget and spend the money.

I pre-ordered Mario 64 and a Nintendo 64 from the US.. good times.
Trespasser, also in the 90's.. not so good time.
Other than that, when Kickstarter was new i backed a few games such as Kingdom Come.
