If there was one who could actually come up with something as good as Disco Elysium i'm sure ppl would make an exception but usually ppl falling for a Loser Con man are not the smartest cookie in the jar so.
Yeah, and i would say the exact same for loser con man Biden voters. Conservatives tends to be a ton smarter than socialists or leftists in my experience, it's no contest. It's way off topic though...

OK, anyway way off topic yeah.
Well actually not even that much since the game is all about politics and other forms of human insanity so it's even kinda fitting in a way
Also notice that this comment about "separating the art from the artist" always seems to come from left leaning people because it's very easy for them. If someone was even a little right leaning (e.g an outspoken Trump supporter developer) you can bet your ass they would NOT practice what they preach, not a chance.
I call bs, the right wing uses this all the time to defend writers from a century ago.

Well i even tried it in practice in the thread, i asked blackeyedboy twice (edit: no, it was you i asked) if he would support the game if they were outspoken nazis, he refused to reply both times. Wonder why.. I doubt such a game, even if it was extremely good would have gotten even 1 award, doubt it would have reached any high sales numbers..
To defend? They are most likely just saying that putting writings from a century ago (and at the same time neglecting its a century old) into a modern context is dumb. It's not like we had a lot of far left progressive ideas (by todays standards) 100 years ago so yes people were racist, LBTQ and feminism wasn't really a thing etc, it was the norm and the expected. You could get into trouble if you came off too progressive. This game and the devs political ideas are happening now, in modern times. if it happened 100 years ago, yes i would have given them a break

Just for the record i don't think the game actually promotes communism or even just presents it in positive light. I think actually playing the game it’s pretty critical of everything. Some of your options are being this asshole racist & sexist facist, a moron communist with absolutely no grip on how the world actually works, or a more “centrist” moralist that’s presented as “boring” or spineless.
If anything, I’d say the game actually slightly pushes you to take the middle road. It calls you boring, but it also frequently acknowledges how the other two options seem so extreme and clearly unrealistic.

Yeah again, i read through a LOT of posts on e.g reddit, their take was different and many were disappointed in the politics and that it's a political game first and foremost and a detective game second, which is not how its advertised.
made me kind of lose interest. i can see how people who enjoys visual novel / adventures might enjoy it though..
"It is, Started my second playthrough hoping it would make a difference if i did things differently and imagine my surprise, nothing has changed, if anything this game is a visual novel with a political compass, calling it an "RPG" is kinda wrong, also the game was heavily advertised as a detective game with political themes, what i got is a political game with detective themes"
"Insanely overrated, pretentious, excessively wordy, and political in a hamfisted way meant to insult anyone that isn't in line with the developers' beliefs."

Well it didn't feel like that to me, i mean why not just play it and form your own opinion? You allrdy could have done so in the time it took you comb trough those comments to confirm your bias or are just looking for excuses to not do it because you fear the game could actually turn you in to a commie

Seriously? You lost interest based on a thread like that? It would seem that you are looking for something to validate your "fears" and avoid this game.
This is a true cRPG and quests play out differently based on your choices and skills. Me and a friend were playing this at a the same time and we had very different experiences in solving certain situations.
Failure opens up new paths and the personality of the character and his past is dictated by your actions. Disco Elysium is the closest game to PST we ever got.
For longer games like this i do tend to read up so i get a decent understanding of what i'm getting myself into, if its even worth my time. It seems to be very split between terrible and incredible, more so than PS:T i think.

I'll give the final cut a shot then
Have fun then! It's definitely the closest thing to PS:T these days.

It's alot better than PS:T imo.
I replayed PS:T recently and the dialogue didn't age well at all. Back when I played it as a kid the first time it felt like a well written booky but now it feels like very cringey and pretentious tryhard stuff.

It is. This game really made me feel melancholy and overall saddness.
Despite it being written by communists or pseudo communists and the game trying to sway you in one or another ideology.
sar·casm | \ ˈsär-ˌka-zəm \
1: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
2a: a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual
b: the use or language of sarcasm
I think some people hate the game because at times it's very in-your-face about the ideology the player pursues, but then again it can mock you even if you're a fence sitter
What the fuck you don't need to be a commie to enjoy this game it blatantly showcases how both sides are dirty, corrupt but the main difference is where they focus the wealth.
My first playthrough I tried to be a neutral cop that just wants to do his job and go home by picking the most boring responses but in my second playthrough I am discovered how much I was missing out.
What's the best stats to go in with?, if one wishes to get the most out of it, and obviously, with me being a bad bastard anyway, in real life, a fitting choice would be perfect
You know a game must be good when, all people can find to moan about it, are politics.
It's a game about politics, first and foremost, so discussions about its politics is as natural as discussions about sci fi or fantasy in games with those themes. The difference being politics is a thing that exists in the real world, so yes it will tie in with real world topics more than Fantasy.

There are no 'best stats', I found out the really great skills are distributed in the four categories, so you can't max all of them in a single playthrough. Generally I would recommend a high Int or Phy for a first run because you'll get more familiar with the story and the lore this way, but you can't go wrong whatever you choose. It's one of those games that doesn't punish you for your choices, and some of the best interactions can be found after a failed dice roll. I think a specilization build is better than a balanced one.
Currently, I'm playing 1-1-5-5 build. Basically, everybody have to dumb down themselves to my level to explain to me basic things like I'm a five-year-old or a fucking retard. My dude is Lennie from 'Of Mice and Men'.
Disco Elysium Patch notes for build 2832f901 (viewable in the F1 menu, bottom right)
General Voice Over fixes.
Improved Kim pathfinding
Fixed controller interaction during Seafort Dream
Fixed controller interaction with The Pigs
Fixed Sandcastle interaction
Fixed car interaction
Fixed car texture
Fixed instances where the tide never receded near the swings
Fixes pawnshop healing interaction
Fixed Thought Cabinet freezes
Fixed save game bugs
Fixes for Cutscene locks and edge-case interactions with controllers
Improved Church interaction
Further improved church cutscene behaviour under certain conditions.
Finishing thoughts should no longer throw players into the void in certain conditions.
Tons of smaller bug fixes.
Finished my 1-1-5-5 run, and I have to say it's a good build for speedrunning the game. It also wasn't as enjoyable as the 1-5-5-1 run I did a few months ago. I recommend the latter build to anybody who wants to play as an insane bad cop.

Great game, finally got around to doing an entire playthough over the past couple of weeks. A lot of the political references went over my head, but I'm more than fine with that. I hope there's another, there's nothing else like it.

The devs said they want to keep on making works set in that world that's all we really know so far though i think i recall them saying they will definitely use a different area and characters in their next game.
I did find that odd. The game deals with rape, murder, loads of profanity (cunt, fuck etc). Yet the dregs of society mustn't be heard muttering the word 'fag'. As if the writing of these characters somehow reflects upon the writers / developers themselves.
