How is Quest 2 better than Rift S if you have a decent system? Seems to have a better resolution.
Genuine question btw, I managed to get what I thought was a deal on one of the Rift S before Xmas (paid about $293 after tax) and then the next day they announced the "temporary" price cut. Been toying with the idea of keeping it for myself but I really don't have much interest in VR.

tbh - it was easy enough to enable developer mode and sideload the addon for VD anyway. Anybody who has a Quest 1/2 and a VR compatible PC shoulda been doing it already as it wasn't as if it was a jailbreak. I'd still recommend developer mode for sideloading other apps as well as the option to turn the guardian off. |
It was easy - yes. But now you only need to install virtual desktop and thats it!
And that makes it fucking more easy for "normal" people.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Fixed that for ya pal - "Normal" people can follow simple instructions... at least those I consider normal can, cos it's all subjective ain't it?

If sim racing, dont use the quest, in the end Quest 2 wireless is limited to 150mbps streaming people say, so you are watching a video stream basically, in games such as assetto corsa you take a quality hit, i had not noticed that in beat saber and similar games. Now i have 2 headsets, 1 for standing games and rift s for sim racing.

Yea, Id say wired for sim racing.
The Reverb G2 is the best one I think for it, followed by index.
I just upgraded from index to the G2 a few months back, and the visual quality difference in racing is worth the FPS hit (120 to 90). 90 is still plenty to be 'smooth' for racing. Only thing I can really tell a noticeable difference in is like table tennis or normal tennis, with a fast moving small ball close to you, 120hz is smoother there.
Friend has a G2 also, and a quest 2 for his wife. And yea he can immediately tell the difference in fast moving track side items and the clarity/crispness of them in both. Quest 2 has a lot of 'smeared fuzzy fast moving compression' artifacts.

aw damn ok. I'll stick with my modified vive.
Some really has to make a proper wireless vr headset that works with PC. Even some sort of a adhoc wifi system.

Games which are listed as playable with Oculus Rift on Steam, can all of them be played on Quest 2 with streaming or link cable?

Yes they can.
It really doesn't matter wired or wireless anymore. The same applicaton is used for both connections ("Oculus Link")
From my experience the only games you will miss out on by using Quest 2 is the Playstation exclusive ones, nothing else.
So if it's on PC and its VR, chances are = you are good to go.
(Then again I didn't play all the games of course, so who knows, you might be able to find some obscure games that need a specific headset...)

Even if "fully body Tracking" the game have to utilize that feature.
I don't think you will be disappointed by the quest 2. It works really well in wireless mode, no need for anything, easy setup, good graphics, almost no screen door effect, 120hz, better resolution than Index.

Haven“t used Oculus shit after they integrated the forced Facebook, they have been absolute nightmare in work usage (exhibition), where things need to work standalone (the glasses itself gets fucked up even from small lightning changes).

i would gladly have bought something for the same money if there were alternatives. and yes, i want wireless...
Forced facebook, pretty sure it's been there since the start, i've owned Oculus Rift Dev Kit 2 and then later the release version, both required Facebook if i'm not mistaken. Been many years now so maybe i misremember.

I can totally understand the preference for wireless.
But IMO the wired isn't as bad as the impression of how it would be is. The newer single cable headsets are much much better for almost not noticing the cord. my Reverb g2 cord is light and super flexible. Like a high quality audio/xlr cable feel to it.
I put mine on, run the cable down to my back belt loop and clip it, and pretty much forget it exists once in VR.
Not trying to talk you into a wired, or that wireless is not obviously more 'free'. Just dont totally write it off as an option if you are on the fence next time you upgrade (if you do) between a wireless one or a higher FPS/resolution wired one.
