Actually hyped for this! Looks just like I wanted a D2 Remake to look like. It's what I expected D3 to look like way back, before it was released. One thing that would have been cool is if they brought another class to this remake, giving it an extra reason to go through it again. It's fine though.

The remake is in full 3D, you can see aliasing on the 4K sshot on the official website. It is so well modeled that I also thought at first it was repainted sprites but it's not, everything, including the backgrounds is in 3D.
and then u have bliztards themselves showing off how d2 original (top) looks way better and more vibrant and gorey then the remaster (bottem) on their own social media HAHAHA
for some machine learned boosted resolution movies, same story, same everything, just a little UI and stash quality of life improvement and some shitty gfx
I think it looks good for a remaster, don't change fucking anything mechanically and just visually overhaul the game. I only hope they leave it in a state where Modding is possible, i could play vanilla D2 again.

Slim chances that it isnt changed. Diablo 2 cant be played with a controller, even if support would be there. The enemies arent tweaked for that, the skills, the whole gameplay. Since this is a console game now, its not possible that it would be the same. Unless they fuck consoles over and just throw an unmanageable game on there. But thats not gonna happen. Blizzard doesnt exist for a long time now, this is activision and consoles are their focus in everything
Visually in some scenes this looks excellent, pretty much exactly like I'd want a D2 remaster to look. Other scenes, yeah, clearly missing the original direction. Hopefully they can fix that up.
Wouldn't wanna pay 40€ for it and will probably just keep playing the original until it's on sale, if it even turns out good. The graphics may be nice but if they changed the gameplay or mechanics as some of you said...

Updated Battle.net support.
oh no... their improved updated new battle.net usually just means less features than the original.
I can already see some kind of new lobby system that's super cumbersome but with matchmaking and fucked chat.
But they're probably gonna keep the gem because MEMBER THE GEM?

Spoiler:
That's a pretty big change already. 6 skills right there instead of just 2? That L2 button might be for switching to a second set of skills then.
I'd also bet they changed the health flask system somehow, right? It's gotta be too much of a hassle to manage those potions constantly for today's "gamers".

And so it begins.... this already looks worse (yeah of course apart from resolution) so I cant imagine after reforge that Activision wont fuck this up
Why instead of 2? I mean I know what you mean, but in D2 you could shortcut up to 8 or 10 skills (or more?)
kinda. I mean yeah it's not a huge change but there was an extra click involved, right?
Didn't you shortcut skills to move over to your RMB or whatever?
So like F3 to equip it, then RMB to actually use it? If you have it all right there in a single button press then that just speeds it up quite a bit and allows you use a wide variety of skills more easily.
-edit-
this isn't inherently a bad change, I'm just worried if they make too many changes like that to streamline stuff and make it faster/easier, it's not gonna feel like D2 anymore. Maybe then they gotta change the enemy behavior and damage and stuff to adapt to the faster players.

In the original game most good builds used at most 3-4 skills, it was a considerably different game to what is expected today in MOBA's, WOW/MMO's, even the newer crap ARPG's etc. It was effectively a math game, but blizztard went with the "people don't want to play spreadsheet" and dumbed D2 gameplay out entirely with the next game.
Yeah its hard to say yet if they havn't revamped the gameplay (obviously if its changed I'll hard pass, $40 as well is a hard pass).
I have to be honest as well, as someone that played years of D2, Eastern Sun, Median, spent years on phrozen keep making my own mod. I truly believe POE today is proper continuation of core mechanics plus a lot more and therefore now just a flat better game. I would still revisit tihs one and play it a few weeks if its predominantly unchanged.

Im not talking about the UI, but the actual gameplay, the design of the game. You're not gonna have the drag n drop nature of m/kb for the inventory, the quick access to every ability.
The enemies swarm you right from the get go, some are fast, some suround you. You have a pathfinding algorithm with m/kb where you click where you wanna go and you can atack in the opposite dirrection at the same time or do whatever. You can aim and shoot every projectile where you want with the cursor. This is just gonna be on autoaim for everything on consoles and enemy numbers, damage and behaviour is gonna be nerfed without a doubt.
Diablo 3 was already such a simplistic game and every aspect of it was further nerfed on consoles compared to pc. Cant dual stick controllers just be erased from fucking existence ?
Well its difficult but possible to code both those types experiences for each platform. As a studio they are just forced to do it because there's more customers on console and mobile than PC period. If you look at the EA and Activision figures, its amazing they even bother with PC at all anymore, getting a game thats not pay to play, muilti-polayer orientated and lootboxed etc. is just never going to happen from the big studio's, it just doesn't make sense anymore.
