On the other hand, it has a 95% rating on Steam, where only users who purchased the game can review it.
I think it's overpriced, but they fixed issues the community couldn't tackle (needed deeper access to the engine) and gave a bit more freedom to modding. It's a fine "EE". It simply needs a much lower price.

Some time ago the Beamdog-Planescape connection would have been terrifying, but with David Gaider on board and after the company ditched some of the writers who worked on the Dragonspear embarrassment, maybe maybe there could be a glimmer of hope. (Assuming that it will happen, that is )

PMS?
Plane Meld Simulacrum?
Or something like that.
Shit I forgot the genuine answer for that original question but I know it comes up during the Ravel talk if the player has investigated enough to have this info, probably needs some stats in the right attributes too. Even the final boss can be talked down by the right questions which was pretty impressive.

Pretty sure whatever answer you pick was the right answer, because the nameless one originally posed the question and Ravel was just dying to know his answer.

The game itself gives you a possible answer that it foots as the correct one, but of course, at the end of the day, the answer is what you believe it is. If you essentially did most of the quests and are wise enough, TNO can ask The Transcendent One for his answer, who claims that nothing can. But then TNO responds that belief can. This means any belief, not just religion, including the belief that any emotion you feel is true. Regret, love and hope are given as examples, but given the entire point of PS:T as being driven by all emotions poured into categories (alignment), and looking at what happened to some of TNO companions etc, it is clear that anything can change the nature of a man so long as it is profound and strong enough. With the First Incarnation, it was regret, but each incarnation underwent something else that changed their nature every time. Paranoia, for example, got changed by anger and hatred, while the PC TNO is changed by whatever your actions in the game were.
This is what the game posits, so like I said, you can decide on your own answer.

TToN was meh, so I don't mind another attempt from a different developer. It's not like we have anything to lose from it.

Regarding the recent rumour, there's a response from Trent Oster:
| Quote: | At any given time, there are a few of these exploration projects happening in different parts of the studio. They’re typically not shared outside of the company as they can be interpreted as a new project.
(....)
Does this mean a new Planescape game is currently in the works at at Beamdog? Afraid not, the team is hard at work on other projects at this time. Planescape is an amazing setting that we enjoyed exploring as a part of developing Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition and we’d love to visit it again in the future. Only the Lady of Pain knows if that’ll happen, and she’s not sharing. |

Still timeless though. Disco Elysium is my GOTY because it made me feel the same way as when I was playing Planescape for the first time.

Yep, I had that vibe as well. Kudos to the devs for recreating that feeling.

I didn't think all merchants could ID items in the Infinity Engine games. It's usually based on the Merchant's lore skill.

Actually they could, at least in BG and ID. Without choosing a specific option in the Tweakpack / tweaks anthology all merchants had 100 lore, even permanently drunk innkeepers in podunk villages
Did you install the Tweaks Anthology lolozaur?
| Tweaks Anthology readme wrote: | "Shopkeepers Have Limited Identification Ability
All games except IWD2
This component makes the identification abilities of stores more in line with the shopkeepers' abilities. There are three ways to implement this, and players are given a choice:
Only mages and bards can identify items. Any non-mage, non-bard shopkeeper cannot identify items at all. Mages and bards can identify any item.
Identification based on lore. Any shopkeeper can identify items up to their personal lore value, regardless of class. The shopkeepers are given a slight lore boost over normal characters to reflect their occupational experience with magical items. Items with exceptionally high lore may not be able to be identified at all by shopkeepers.
Hybrid. Mage and bard shopkeepers can identify anything, and other shopkeepers use lore scores based on their character." |

Yeah, Tweaks Anthology is a must have, so many QoL improvements.
Are you playing the EE version? Maybe it has some tweaks baked into the code (like the shopkeepers identyfing ability based on lore). Or maybe shopkeepers not being able to identify all items in Planescape was always a thing, I don't remember. Anyway in BG and IWD they definitely could. |
EE includes some of the unfinished business mod by default I believe (the stuff that Avellone curated and OK'd them adding back in). I don't think it includes anything from the tweak pack by default though.

yeah the EE on steam; i used a merchant in the hive market for identifying shit but at some point some he could not do some
anyway, i reached curst and found in a box or whatever 11865 silver rings wtf
edit |
That might be an EE bug. It has a few that aren't in the original.
I actually prefer playing the original PST with the widescreen mod and a dxdraw wrapper like DGVoodoo, I've had too many issues with the EE version in the past.
